Can someone explain how it's possible to have one group with both Barcelona and Juventus, another with both PSG and Bayern, and another with both Real Madrid and Dortmund? Those are 6 of the best maybe 8 or 9 teams in the world, all stacked together. I'm not trying to act incredulous or cynical, I just genuinely don't understand how that happens.

My guess would be they're not pulling in the viewing figures in the group stages so they've made some big groups

I can explain, the League Champions of Europes top nations automatically go into pot 1, the teams in pots 2, 3 and 4 are in order of coefficient (ranking based on the past 5 season in both European competitions) so, you basically have the top 16 teams over the past 5 seasons in Europe split into pot 1 and 2. Unless there's a surprise Like Leics or maybe Monaco winning the League. League Champions going into Pot 1. (Leics were in pot1 last season). So you have Juve (Champions) with Barca (runners up remember), Madrid (champions ) with Dortmund (high coefficient) Munich (champions) with PSG (runners up remember) and so on. Leipzig finished runners up in Germany, but haven't played in Europe in the 5 year period, so their coefficient was low, hence them being in Pot 4.

Suprise surprise. ...look who's here

This one's for @davek

well recent history shows that what he says is true. The last top class player they bought? you're going all the way back to torres which was a while back now. Every player who has a sniff at moving to a better club has done it recently. Other clubs are constantly beating them to their number 1 targets and then the ones they don't get competition for, they can't attract anyway mostly.

But their club is still fixated on delusion that they can click their fingers and everything will fall in place. Who was their backup for keita? They didn't have one, did they? Who was their back up for van dijk? Again, they didn't have one. It's utter madness what they've done this summer.

Thanks for the enlightening explanation. Still not sure why Leicester were in pot 1 last season.
Can you also explain why 1 + 1 = 2?

The correct answer to the poster you replied to was 'it's not a fix, these things just happen'.

I thought you'd know.

Not quite sure what you want me to explain, 1 + 1 = 2 ? What? Why the sacrcasm regarding Leics? The poster asked for an explanation, I give it. 'it's not a fix, these things just happen' wouldn't really be an explanation, would it? Just to help you out
