ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

£40 mill is a lot of money for someone with less than 12 months on their contract and who was injured for about 50% of last season.

I like him, but it's a risk.

Having said that, the money in football now is utterly nonsensical

i did like ox but he doesn't seem to have kicked on in the last few years. Pretty sure last season was his most productive, but still, i was expecting him to become a great player. He's a winger though, i can't see the RS playing him in the centre where he wants to be played.

It's definitely an odd transfer.

Wenger played him at CM a fair few times and he was pony there. He's also played there once for England. Pony. He's not clever enough. Makes Barkley look like Zidane.

As a winger, he's pretty average. He can beat a man but can't cross, can't shoot (goal record is appalling).

He's found his place at wing back. Just like Moses at Chelsea, the lad isn't very good anywhere else at a top level.

But. He's good squad filler.

Ox is a decent player and a good buy for them, who'll do a solid job in that squad for years. But he's no Lemar - he's not an X factor player. They have that in Mane and Coutinho (if they keep him), but if they'd have got Lemar in I'd have been seriously concerned because that's an awful lot of quality variety in attack.

Still after Lemar too by all accounts.
