ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

Offended by Everything, Ashamed of Nothing.. I really can't believe they are appealing this - but it is Liverpool so, yes, I can believe it. If the Ritchie yellow card demonstrates anything it is that on that occasion the referee was wrong. To uphold the Laws of the Game you have to stay with correct decisions and put right wrong ones.. and this was the correct decision, no one made him stick his foot 4 foot plus in the air in the direction of the keeper's head.

that's one of the saddest videos i've ever seen. Some middle aged virgin constantly trying to start chants that nobody else wants to join in with, shouting munich and man city fans and then actually joining in with their mocking of steve gerrard thinking he'll drown them out, all whilst holding the v's up in front of his camera the whole game thinking that it would actually infuriate the couple of kids standing opposite him.

Jeeesus,that is something else.

He actually sounds like a scouse peter griffin.

taking defeat well

Im sure our lot have some absolute whoppers like this too.
The one thing that really really irks me about this video is the second city bring out the 'its never your fault' song.
The (as someone beautifully described it) scouse peter griffin sounding fella immediatly gets on his high horse and starts barking on "hillsborough song yeah, hillsborough song yeah"
How many more times does it take to inderstand that that song aint nothing to do with hillsborough.
Every football fan in the country supported liverpool over that. What we didnt support them with is blaming heysel on the italians, chelsea fans, culture club or anything possible.
Dont get me started on there 'free diedre rachide' style suarez t-shirt after he racially abused another profesional.
Sorry for the rant, but i really really really hate the way they use hillsborough as a way of masking all the other stuff in there history!
And how does he respond ......by yelling munich!!!

Neville and Tyler set the tone for this apologist nonsense by totally flipping their lids over the "injustice" of Mane being sent off.

That incident is one of the most righteous red cards I have ever see .....there should be no controversy at all.

But those two prattled on and on and on and on and nauseum, even as the goalie was being strapped to a stretcher.....and it appears a lot of sheep, such as Murphy and Lineker, have went baa baa.

Tbh i instinctively thought it was harsh and Neville's rhetoric helped cement that notion. However, it was put best (possibly on this site) by someone who said that as they were both effectively outfield players at that point that nobody could really have a problem if Mane tried to nod it past the goalie and the goalie went flying in with his boot at head height.

Reverse the image in your head, Ederson's foot recklessly colliding with Mane's head...the kopite media would be calling for 3 month bans.

Thanks for clearing that up. In that the case there's no grounds for the RS to appeal, it was a red and that's the minimum ban. Thems the rules kids.

Is there any precedent for the FA reducing (rather than simply overturning) a ban from a red card? Hopefully it's dismissed as a frivolous appeal and another game is added on. I do always wonder if the side appealing has some private (informed illegally) inkling that it may go in their favour though... I mean why would you chance appealing, knowing you could get further punishment, unless you had a feeling it would go your way.

Think the appeal is a nothing-to-lose kind of appeal, they probably feel the Ritchie incident should be enough to protect them from the challenge being treated as frivolous.

It's irony of the highest level, they know it's not about the tragedy yet will say it is to allow them to act like a pack of animals. And when they're called out in their behaviour the response is always "they sang about Hillsborough first"

The whole club is a cult from top to bottom, they cannot take responsibility for any actions of their players to the fans. They're actually detested through English football but believe this to be because they were once successful, and not that they're a bunch of absolute tedious cretins

Billy what you say about every football fan supporting the RS over Hillsborough is, unfortunately, not true. There are plenty of people out there that blame the fans still.

They cant compute "irony" as it requires another tier of intelligence alien to them. Thats why they can squirm out of criticism of their behaviour yet similarly would dramatically condemn it if it was against them. Look at how they did with that disgusting "Munich" song episode at their benefit night....was it a Spirit/Sons of Shankly do. Even the ones you wouldnt consider knuckle-draggers didn't cover themselves in glory by publicly and categorically condemning such a disgraceful shameless display. The ole RS mantra again, see...if we don't talk about it much, then, given time, it didn't really happen.

I don't understand Klopps position of Mane not seeing the goal keeper. If he didn't see the keeper, why isn't he running onto the ball and taking it on his chest?

Mane clearly knew he was there and made an error of judgement resulting in dangerous play, there is no harm in recognising that. The length of ban is correct.

Spot on, that was my argument with a RS. For him to go in like that, with his feet that high, proves that he was aware of Ederson and therefore deems it dangerous play
