Absolutely not worth getting aggrieved at. Personally I'd rather they qualify for the knockout round and stay in the competition until they get a wonderful draw against a team such as PSG or Real Madrid. The days of "famous European nights at anfield" don't mean a thing to the proper big boys of Europe. Plus I don't want them finishing third and dropping down into the Europa League.
