ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

Their title challenge is almost over by November and none of them seem bothered. Expectations are definitely being managed down by FSG and it’s working. Klopp is a master stroke for them. They’ve got a manager that the masses are so in awe of that they don’t realise the results are worse than Rodgers and that Wenger’s Arsenal have won more in 3 seasons than they have in 10 years.

Can you imagine if Koeman or Unsworth said that? Everton fans would want to burn him at the stake. Koeman got enough flak for going for a meal with his BFF Guardiola after Arsenal.

This is a very pertinent point. I remember when they sacked (and hounded out) Houllier who won a treble with them for finishing 4th. Likewise Benitez was also hounded out, albeit for finishing 7th. There seems to be some standard responses to this when it's pointed out.

1) Call you a bitter, tell you how little you've won, inform you they've won the champions league 5 times. Classic strawmannirg.

2) Claim bad luck. Look a bit puzzled when you suggest bad luck over a prolonged period is normally indicative of structural flaws (see Martinez with us).

3) Claim Klopp has a master plan he's working towards, which relatively poor finishes (for them) are a part of.

4) Blame it all on FSG (or the players).

I like Klopp. He seems a charming guy, he has his faults like all people but seems a decent human being. I also like the fact he's been idolised by Kopites not for winning but for wearing converse and having a nice smile. Long may that continue.

27 years these have gone without a league title. think we can safely say it will be at least 29 years before they win one again. That means anyone under about 35 years of age will have never seen it. The same is true for us, but for a club that considered itself (or still does) European royalty it's some fall from grace. We messed it up with the PL, but they have also let a very good situation slip.

Number 4 gets about 95% of their vote I should imagine. They have to blame someone and that is who they tend to lay the blame on.

Gang of scruffs
