ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

This is a tough draw for us. Roma can knock us out. But, we should have more possession, and need to make it count. I don't think we would have wanted this if it was fixed.

Absolute codswallop. That's the best draw for you and you know it.

UEFA made sure you beat City with not one, but several contentious decisions going in your favour - i'd have put my mortgage on you drawing the worst team of the 3 remaining.

I'm still amazed how they won that, proper lucky

Can't remember the group but they got through with a last minute worldie.

I think they played a Dortmund or Shalke, then that Juve team full of worldies,a ghost goal against champions chelsea and that final.

They had more luck than Chelsea in 2012.

Yes.

No mate.

He was found guilty which means Evra wasn’t lying.

To imply otherwise or excuse it is racist by definition.

yep, this would have been my reply. I thought it was utterly disgusting and would have said the same had it been us doing it wouldn't have changed that. i can't believe it was just swept under the carpet.

I'm warming to the idea of Roma. Liverpool will feel the expectation levels of being favourites and I think if they struggle against any opposition it's against well drilled ones who can keep shape but offer a goal threat.

I like the sound of their manager's tactics here https://www.esdfanalysis.com/manager-analysis/tactical-philosophy-eusebio-di-francesco/ especially defensively with little space between defensive and midfield lines (he's carried that flexible 433 shape over into his Roma tenure - although he seems to have thrown that out the window for the Barcelona tie).

The fact that they know Salah and that he's playing his old club is also a worrying one for Liverpool I;d say.

I'd put Liverpool favourites at evens, but I wouldn't put Roma any more than 6/4. This will be tight.

Not plucky underdogs now... probably getting the bus ready for the victory parade as we type.

Why did UEFA make sure Liverpool beat City? Genuine question - my tin foil hat is at the ready.

I cant see Liverpool winning the competition. It could have been a tougher route through for them, but I just dont get that feeling of dread I had in 2005. I think there's mounting expectation on this lot now and I dont think they handle expectation too well.

This Roma tie will be very interesting and the final (though more of a toss up with a class team and therefore winnable) still looks like a tall order for them.

Very true Senor. We were all hoping for them to get Madrid, but then we fully expect Madrid to crumble when they visit Analfield or simply get their coach destroyed by the yob fans which in turn scares the bejesus out of several players who then go on to underperform.

Madrid are an attacking team, so home or away so you know there would have been spaces in their defence for Salah (because it literally is just him who has got them where they are in the league and cup) to exploit.

Roma being on a similar level to Liverpool but more well-drilled than Madrid or Bayern may work out in their favour. No great expectations for them to live up to.

Come on Roma, do these.

At least they don't have a manager that bottles it at the finals stage of big competitions...

I had hoped they'd get Bayern. I think they are easily the most balanced team in the tournament. They are solid at the back and have some very handy attacking players. Roma will be a tough nut. No question.

I still think though that in a one off shootout over 90 minutes there isn't a team on the planet that can get near Madrid, so hopefully they see Bayern off in case the Kopites get to the final.

Because of all the "fans" from the far east, USA etc who wouldn't recognise the pit if they fell over it and are sky/b t subscribers paying through the nose....money talks. Stupid plastic rs
