whie i appreciate big fod was a quality player, imo we'd have been mile better and [probably have won something keeping gerrard on the left, beckham on the right scholes lampard and maybe hargeaves in the middle

Gerrard couldn't help drifting into the middle of the park, he didn't have the tactical wherewithal to stick to one side of the pitch.

I remember one of the few chances Baines was given for England and they put Gerrard in front of him who subsequently went walkabout leaving Baines facing two players all match and who do you think it was who got slated in the media afterwards for that, not the DJ botherer thats for sure.

Liverpool have faded badly recently.

Lost easily to United, Palace would've beaten them if Benteke wasn't a total donkey, City dominated both legs and but for officials not knowing the laws they'd be out, we should've beaten them, conceded two late goals to an awful West Brom, couldn't break down an awful Stoke team.

The 5-2 against Roma is a red herring. Roma were dominating and controlling the game until they scored (yet another) offside goal. Roma's heads go and the employ suicidal tactics trying to rescue the game. Liverpool fatigued badly and showed they aren't mentally strong conceding two late goals, and could've been more.

I hope they cling on tonight, they're going to get embarrassed in Kiev.
Nah. The biggest embarrassment ever will be if they get bummed tonight. The media love in will implode.

And I don't have to wait until the final to laugh at them.

Nonsense. Scholes dictated the midfield of the best side in England. Gerrard player for himself in a team that never touched the title. They were showing videos of Scholes at La Masia whilst Gerrard was a tactical liability in virtually every team he was in.
I like versatility in the midfielder and Gerrard was a complete package, Roy Keane was good too but not as good. Yaya Toure at his peak was beast. But given a long period of time and influence in the team, in terms of winning trophies, late goals, crucial goals in finals, leading the team, getting the best out of other players, especially strikers, it has to be Gerrard, by a mile. Just wish he played for Manchester red.

LOL.

I know it’s all about opinions mate, but comparing slippy G to Zidane is the worst thing I’ve ever seen on here, that’s against some stiff competition too.
Didn't Zidane himself say that he wanted to play alongside Gerrard and that at one point he was the best footballer in the planet? I also saw Zidane XI and he made Gerrard captain.

Only Ronaldo can save us now

There's loads in that Real team who can save us if they get past Roma but even if only Ronaldo can save us now, there's not a more capable pair of hands to be in.

He is the ultimate big game player, continually proven, tried and tested on many occasions.

Zinedine Zidane: "My toughest opponent? Scholes of Manchester. He is the complete midfielder. Scholes is undoubtedly the greatest midfielder of his generation."

Though he did say at one point that he would have wanted to play alongside Gerrard

Tbf, as much as it pains me to say, he was the best midfielder of his generation, better than Scholes, my love <3
Not a chance, he wasn’t called Stevie Me for nothing.
Remember when he would score and push his teammates out of the way so he could run to the camera, tells you all you need to know.
Perhaps if he wasn’t so short sighted he may well have won more.

Pep once said the only English player that would have made his Barca team was Scholes, says it all.
