ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

Defo mate. It goes without saying I hope they're safe. The climate both last week and this week though would have been primed by how Liverpool supporters outside the ground have been trying to intimidate teams - people who wont have to face the music in Rome.

Thats basically it. I ember something similar in 2005 when utter weapons were going on about how they were going to "take the p@ss" out in Turin. Thankfully it passed off peacefully and the have a go heroes were left well behind.

The attitude of a section of their fans is incredulous. Still some of them can't seem to see the link between trying to physically intimidate opposition teams and people then lobbing bottles/smashing buses. Like there is no connection between them. And then the same people can't seem to see a connection between criminal damage, smashing glass and people's property whilst they are in it, and physical attacks. It's not to excuse any of the actions but there is something of a continuum of violence that they seem to want to ignore actions they partake in that fit upon it.

I've seen many who should know better coming out with "chucking a faint bottle isn't the same as leaving someone in a hospital" as if anyone has ever said it is. This is now used as the measuring stick to carte blanche attack anyone who tries to challenge the idea that physical intimidation of opposing teams supporters or fans is unacceptable.

I have to say, as someone who's mum was hit in the face with a glass bottle (not a fanta bottle as it is incorrectly being reduced too) by some moron at a pub on years years eve who launched it into a crowd and who saw first hand both the physical and psychological damage it caused to her, I will happily meet any Kopite who wants to minimise this sort of behaviour as essentially harmless. Thats not to underplay what's happened to that poor fella, who I wish a speedy and full recovery, but you can't stamp out hooligan behaviour by minimising the bits you don't want to talk about.

Anyway, I hope the guys going out there get home safely. Anyone who has travelled abroad to watch football general have their wits about them, and fingers crossed the celebrations are kept in the stadium and there is a respectful tone taken in and around the stadium and in Rome later. The last thing we want are more casualties.

I know it sounds weird but compared to when they had referees pointing for penalties then conveniently changing their mind after a word from 'Stevie G' for a corner and scoring offside goals/winning dodgy penalties/scoring in the 117th minute or whatever, then it doesn't irk me as much.

They've won things in the past that they haven't deserved. If they win this, barring shenanigans in the final I guess, then it's as 'clean' a Champions League win as you'd care to ask for.

So be it.

I honestly don't know what to say to that.

I get that we have got some happy clappers following us (they have creaked out the woodwork this week) but in my life time they have always had a better team and more of a reason to believe they would win things.

Just look at our squad, there is no way we could expect anything from them. Gang of mercenaries with no care for the club. We could demand they win us a trophy for the next decade but we would just look like divies because regardless of what we think as a set of supporters our team is a load of crap.

They’ve had some gash sides and still delivered. Djimi Traore has a Champions League medal and Jordan Henderson, Danny Ings and Simon Mingolet could possibly join him

I fancy them massively in the final. I said from the outset they lose across 2 legs to any of PSG, Bayern, Barcalona and Real Madrid without any shadow of a doubt to me. You can probably add Manchester United to that list, who would have the edge with Mourinho. They have been fortunate to avoid the best 4 sides in the tournament across 2 legs and in a 1 off game they are capable of beating anyone.

I think they are playing with more confidence than Madrid and more attacking potency. The 4 conceded tonight will help as it will put some nerves into them. Madrid are also filled with winner that helps, and they and Klopp have a tendency to bottle finals. Thats what we have to hope really. It's another no show from them.

Dreading the next 4 weeks,it will be every corner you turn, flags, banners, replica shirt wearing nobs etc etc. Whilst we will be invisible in the City. At least 2005 we finished 4th and harbored hopes of being in it ourselves the following campaign,we also had the Carsley derby that season to hold onto. This time it's bleak for us.
