Clicked for the Burial cover art.
Not actually watched it but its meant to be a good summary of how dubstep went from a credible genre into basically meme music for american frat bros
I steer well clear of anything that regards itself as dubstep these days.
Although I don't even consider Burial dubsetp so unsure how he fits in that video haha.
He was very much considered part of dubstep scene in early days although he was kinda in his own category of it as his music had way more depth than the likes of Mala, Benga, Skream and all the other artists who were blowing up around the mid 2000s.
I remember hearing this at a DMZ night in London around 2005 I think and thinking its the best thing id heard in years
The early days of dubstep were so good. I like Skream’s first album and songs like Dutch Flowerz and Rutten. Summer Dreams is also a good one. As were some of the artists that branched off from it, most notably for me Mount Kimbie. Not actually watched it but its meant to be a good summary of how dubstep went from a credible genre into basically meme music for american frat bros
Broke my heart when I saw Four Tet collaborating with Skrillex. I try to forget it happened but this reminded me ffs. Cheers lol

Four Tet did a collaboration with Skrillex ? Lol random.
Skrillex is a weird one, I cant stand his music but hes into stuff like Aphex Twin, Burial, Squarepusher and all these cool experimental artists but his music tends to be the polar opposite. I think he deep down wishes he could make cool niche music but the mega money for making plastic/mainstream dance music is too tempting and lucrative. He apparently turned down a grammy and told them to give it to Aphex Twin instead, which they actually did despite the people in charge probably not even knowing who Aphex Twin is lol
He also once made a burial inspired track as a bside to one his big singles and all his 14 year old fans were like wtf is this, where's the drop bro ?

Yeah but I never listened to it. I think he’s a talented producer for sure, and I think you’re probably right. The $$$ is just too tempting.Four Tet did a collaboration with Skrillex ? Lol random.
