Defiantly mate. The 32-40 million they paid back then, was probably akin to 60-80 million now. Definitely comparable to the Stones/Laporte/Van Dijk fee. All 3 of the above may flop at their respective clubs and may be slightly overrated, but what you an't say is they are without ability or easily good enough to walk into our team, even if in 2-3 years they struggle at their current team.

Particularly with Allardyce in charge these sorts of buys make sense. The challenge will be for him to get a tune, as he did with Anelka/Okocha/Djorkaef/Sakho/insert signing here.
