Ellis Simms stepping up in place of Kean?

Would You Have Simms Step Up This Season?

Will he get on the bench in any of the next few games? When you think about it if Dom goes down or needs a rest who goes up front?

I'd give him until Christmas to show something in cameos, if he struggles then we can get someone to cover in during the window for 18 months while he finds his feet and steps up properly (or ends up at Wigan)

I hope he is ready because God forbid something happens to DCL in the next 3 games, Richarlison was his replacement up top.. similar to Spurs last year when Kane did his hamstring, Son deputiesed until he himself got injured.

Your opinion; will not know until he plays.

I find comments like this odd because Kean gave this team like nothing but a warm body. So I'm not sure it's as dire as many make it. Of course I'd like a proven reliable upgrade, but I don't see how rolling the dice on a Kean replacement is the worse thing.

Seeing as the guy did next to nothing.

To be honest if hes filing in for Kean he will be fine, should be able to do 10 minutes, barely touch the all and achieve nothing when does.
Feel for Kean, never got a chance, but sadly it looks like there may have been good reason.
Not seen Simms but cant really be less effective tbf.

I hope he gets on the bench in early rounds of FA Cup. I don't think he's ready for Premier League yet. I'm undecided on whether he should be loaned out as invariably that hasn't worked. However our latest young talents Gibson on loan is getting no game time and Gordon who stayed is getting no game time are perhaps worse off than Simms who's at least getting regular minutes to stay sharp.

Put him in the game-day squad, sure. Not sure who else is a pure forward if we need one?
It's actually a good point. Right now we have Dom as basically the only choice up top. I honestly don't even know for these next 3 games if there will be a real replacement on the bench which is certainly not ideal. That said, I don't think Simms is ready and I'll be surprised if he's on the bench at all this year.

Maybe not the next few games, but December / early January is going to be challenging for us with the number of games we have - between 29 November and 06/07 January (including the FA Cup 3rd round) we play ten games, an average of around two games a week. If we progress in the League and FA Cup, fixture congestion in January won't be much better.

Basically what I'm saying is that if Tosun still isn't fit by New Year's, I can't see that Simms won't get game time, we'd be lucky to start Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison every game over that period.

We now have decent squad depth pretty much over every other position except centre-forward.

No choice till January, I'm sure we'll see him get some game time before then and be in a better position to judge his ability as a PL footballer after he's actually played in the PL.

Gordon played some games as an out an out striker for u23 so I suppose he's an option. Other than that maybe playing Sigurdsson as a false 9.
