Sure but it was a few minutes at the end and he was deemed fit enough for the bench. Not necessarily. The lad has been injured.

The fact that Dobbin got on before him doesn't bode well for his chances.
ThisI refuse to believe that he couldn't have done better than Rondon yesterday.
Very true, but this may favour Simms in some ways, “ all he has to do” is concentrate on being a better striker. He’s powerful, we know he can finish , has improved his hold up play but is way behind DCL with his aerial stuff and work rate, so lots of specifics he can concentrate on.Dobbin is more versatile whereas simms is an out and out striker
I'm guessing he isn't fit either and the manager has decided that if it's a choice between an unfit experienced player and an unfit inexperienced player he'll go with the former instead of the latter
That might change if Simms can get up to speed fitness wise
Agreed , but a run out for 10 minutes for Iwobi or Rondon he would have done far better he needs to get match fit, so why put him on the bench?Been out injured since May. Only just returned to training.

I'm thinking he must be fit enough to do a little bit off the bench, otherwise he wouldn't be on it
You're not going to select a player for the matchday squad who can't play
This. He needs games at this level to get back into fitness. Glad he wasn't risked last couple of games. Good for him to be involved in the squadIf he's not match fit pop him on the bench tonight for u21s against Carlisle give him the last 20 minutes. We don't play against MU until Saturday 20 minutes tonight will do him no harm but might make him an option for another 20-30 on Saturday.

…if he’s eligible it’s a perfect opportunity for him to pkay the whole game tonight.
