A simple goal that “ anybody could have scored”, but he did, and the pleasing bit was him moving right, then moving left and getting himself free in a good position. He hasn’t always shown that level of thinking , often in the past he’d have gone right , continued running into space expecting a ball he could run on to , his strength. Very early days but a nice start for him.

you can't really see it from that angle but his run completely bamboozles that CB and the RB, both of them thought the other was picking him up and both were wrong

edit: here is a slightly better one -

Not sure if you have covered this elsewhere or someone else has. Obviously he scored but what is your first impression on his all around game? From what I have seen, I am not sure about him but hopefully he comes on and scores plenty for you
He’s very direct, strong, industrious and has decent ability. Not everything came off for him but his attitude has been great in the game and a half he’s played so far. Hearts play away in the Edinburgh derby tomorrow and Rangers at Ibrox on Sunday so another couple of big games for him to test himself in.

It’s great movement, it really is. His first run keeps the LCB occupied so that he can’t press the ball meaning the hearts man can keep carrying the ball forward unimpeded.
His second movement left drags the same player with him, but it’s just enough so that it keeps him occupied and the winger stays wide open.
The last bit of the run means that other CB doesn’t know whether to go to the man who carried the ball, go with Simms, or block the space in the middle. By this point, the right back is stuffed.

Certainly underrated movement that he needs to be applauded for.

He’s going to be a very well paid footballer .. at us or somewhere else … maybe not too tier but seems to score wherever he goes… what a waste of time not giving him games .. and we still sit with blinking Rondon

Hopefully gets a few against Rangers.
Make it a bit more interesting up the top of the table.

His body language and verbals would suggest that he sees his future away from Goodison. Who knows with new management in, he may actually get a chance next year.
