Best of luck to the lad. Had the attributes we needed but, I assume based on how many managers overlooked him, not quite the quality. Always a shame when that happens as we’d all love an academy product come good, to help drag us out of the mire.

I don’t think we are in a position to complain about the fee we got for Simms, we rated him and treated him like a nonentity, while he was part of our first team squad he was given ver little match time, we are a team who can’t score goals and he couldn’t get a game for us, we were negotiating from a very weak position. Personally I hope the lad does well at Coventry, I hope he scores lots of goals and gets them promoted. On the face of it we are now doing the right things, we are clearing the decks, we are getting rid of players who we don’t think have a future at the club, we will make a mistake or two and move on players who will come good, we are Everton after all. Get rid of a few more, which will be difficult. Then the hard work starts, getting in replacements, we won’t be tested on who we let go but we will be tested on who we bring in.
