We’ve got £3.5m for Simms by all accounts with the rest of the add ons to be paid if Coventry ever get promoted (they won’t)
I’ve never seen that figure. By all accounts that I’ve seen it’s £6m -£8 mill . Given that Sunderland and Ipswich were also interested I doubt we’ve let him go for £3.5 m ……but then again it is Everton.

£3.5m upfront, £5m with addons and up to £8m if they go up

Reverse engineer this, would you pay 8mil for him to solve our striker options? I think most would say no. Last year of contract, makes room to add another striker, Maupay is gone, so let’s assume DCL and Cannon. Cannon is a work in progress so I am going to say a #4 striker even if we play one up, DCL we should assume will be out for extended periods, that leaves us needing 2 strikers. Put the 8mil into the kitty for that; bring in an out and out #9 as our#1 striker and let DCL compete against him when fit, then a 2nd striker that can play across the front 3, helps solve the wide problem when all fit and works within our budget of not being able to buy for every position. *CAVEAT assumes we but well but on recent track form well….
By the end of the window we will be begging to pay more for worse players...

Good luck to Ellis Simms, I hope it all works out well for the lad and he has a good career. I don't agree with Carlton Palmer though, who I believe stated that Simms will score 20 goals a Season; but you never know.
