They think he's naff but he's their second best goal scorer. I dont know mate, I dont really care what their fans think. Ill make my own judgement when he's playing in blue. Hes big, strong and knows where the net is and didnt cost us an arm and a leg. Different league but I'd say those are things we need right now

I think the important part of bringing him back is that Everton can reloan Ellis, at the end of January, back to Sunderland, I think he is back for now in case we don’t land another striker in January.

I watched Simms a lot last season at Hearts and while he was great for us, I think he is probably a Championship level striker in all honesty. Would love to be proved wrong.

His main strength was pace and power. He was able to bully SPFL players quite easily but EPL is a different beast in that regard. His touch wasn’t great and for a big guy he didn’t win a lot in the air (in fact for all his goals I don’t remember him scoring a header).

All of that said he had decent showings against Celtic and Rangers (probably mid level EPL equivalent) and has to be better than Rondon.

I presume he can play against Brighton, him and DCL together with Gray behind from one wing, in fact Simms for Godfrey and its almost today's team

Surely a Championship striker is better than no striker?

In a twitter space v Sunderland fan before who say. Maybe not PL ready but he's been great in the air and holding the ball. He's quick when he gets going but not over 5 yards

Sims isn't better than Maupay, the manager needs to do better with what he has, until new players come in. Sims will be impact from the bench at best, he isn't ready for a relegation threatened Everton who create next to now't in terms of chances for strikers... we're crap in front of goal, Sims isn't the answer, unfortunately.
