Can't see any other thread dedicated to energy bills. So, any horror stories from your supplier?

I'll start. I got an email yesterday saying that my payments will be £525 per month from October. That's £6300 per year. Cap, what cap? Anyway, based on usage from Oct 2020 to Oct 2021 and the new cost per Kwh and the new daily standing charge I'm calculating my gas at £1200. E.on's estimate is £5200. Busy tomorrow but will be giving them a call on Thursday.

I expect my gas to double, however currently I'm only paying £25 per month. Gas only used for hot water and (rarely) heating.

Our electric is around £100 p/m so with extra light usage in winter, maybe another £25 a month also.

If they are around that then I can live with it. Hopefully not much more.

Energy price rises are nothing compared to the standing charge rises I've been seeing. Typical rip off Britain stuff as the government does what it can to buy votes while ministers protect the value if the shares they ubdoubtedly have in energy companies.

Nationalisation is sensible and necessary.

Energy companies = tory donors.
They won't bite the hand that feeds them.

R OF I budget yesterday gave everyone 600 euro credit which obviously helped, I switched supplier last week which by doing so gave me an initial 40% off for 12 months, estimated at 450 euro. And 12 months time I can do it again.
That saying, they still estimate bills of just under 3 grand based on my previous history.

There is a thread here in the ale House with energy saving tips which I have scrutinised and implemented what I can. Hopefully we can ride it out.

This is what my wife has just sent me ??? as if im going to pay that!! DD will be getting cancelled, fight me in court.

They're just wanting to hold our money. Free funding for them.
They also advised that the Govt. will pay £400 over the next 6 months and my bill would be reduced automatically by £66.67 per month BUT they recommend that I still pay £525. They must think we are all stupid.

I live in a 4-bed new house so well insulated. My children have now left so just my wife and I. I work from home. My wife goes out to work. I don't and won't put the heating on during the day. Hoodie keeps the chill off. Might put it on in the evening although we have a log burner which is enough to keep it cosy.
