Out of curiosity, have you been with the sane supplier a while now? I'm guessing so as no one has been offering fixed deals. If so, they know your likely future usage based on previous years, so no excuses for poor and inflated extrapolation.
I think we changed suppliers about 2-3 years ago mate if i remember correctly, not certain though as my Mrs deals with all the bills. Il find out mate

Oh yeah, I experienced the joys of congestion caused by the bodged 'improvements' to Akers Way when I lived there.

Ended up buying a bike to commute as it was faster. That is one thing I think Swindon had going for it, decent cycling routes.
To take you from your overpriced high density housing estate yo the dead town centre where you can get your nike nicked free.

Yes, 4 years and exactly. I know that between Oct 2020 and Oct 2021 I used 10,785 Kwh of gas. Their estimate for Oct 2022 to Oct 2023 (as it was back in March) is 50,000 Kwh. As I said, they must think that we are stupid.

Weirdly, I have been. Taken it up, obvs. Now, I am on LPG, not mains gas, but even so. Our bill got reduced by £50.00 pm a few months ago, based on usage, apparently. I spoke to them the other day as the contract was up for renewal. Was dreading it. But they said I could fix at the same DD and unit price for 12 months, "to see how it plays out", then look at a variable after that.

Its about the first time I have been glad we are on LPG in 22 years.

Whether they have a ton of stored LPG bought at pre crap prices, or LPG is uncorrelated to mains gas I dont know.

That seems quite low? I used 22,500 kWh in 12 months, but for 4 of us in a draughty house with gas central heating, gas heated hot water and gas cooker.

I’m with Bulb, and they are useless.

I was £300 in credit at one point, with their stupid estimates, and then me submitting a reading. Now apparently I owe them money (I don’t).

I’m just being as awkward as anything with them, set a DD up for £40 a month, and I won’t submit a reading.

They can earn their money. C*nts.

Sounds like you might have got lucky either way!

Not wanting to seem rude or unsympathetic, but am I right I'm thinking you are £510 in debt with them currently? That's probably why they're jacking it up so much.

£170 a month ain't covering the energy costs? Christ. I use £65 for electricity and about £15 for gas at the moment. Which will increase in the coming months. You must have a bigger house / kids!
Debit is credit. B gas done the same to mine

I found them alright but submit readings on their app every month so my bills are pretty accurate. The company I was with before were a nightmare to upload readings so there was drift they inexplicably stopped taking the standing orders, by the time I realised my account was a couple of grand down in arrears
