England 2018

also, people should look up where qatar is on the map, look at who their three largest neighbours are, and ask themselves can we even be sure what that area will look like in 12 years time. to me, it's a massive risk from a security point of view. the areas a tinderbox.

Your not a scouser so you wouldn't understand

Well I understand Social standings mate. All I hear from Liverpool is piss and moan. Sorry to sound harsh but trust me people on the outside of Liverpool don't all hate scousers or think they are robbing bastards. Much of that stereotype is maintained by people not doing anything to prevent it or dissuade it.

We'l agree to disagree then bud

Ouch... ^^

Yeah I'll go with Cena_is_an_Evertonian - rather than drag this out I'll agree to disagree.

So you're not a Scouser?

Ah... well... sort of explains your stance then ^^

It's a sort of "you have to be here" type of thing that you're not going to understand. :)

I'm from Chester. I understand what happened in Liverpool and other cities around the UK. Reputations are difficult to lose, but to be honest, I very rarely hear anything about it from anyone else in Liverpool. It's mainly people on this forum - if I'm being honest.

To be honest, Qatar is one of the richest Arab countries, growing rapidly, ridiculous resources and desperate to impress.

Qatar 2022 will be a hell of a World Cup IMO. I have massive doubts about Russia 2018 though.

Well done to Russia and Qatar.

Have to say though between this, the bloody cold, and how [Poor language removed] Everton are, I feel like Ghost right now. I just want to kill everybody.

What do England and Qatar have in common? They've both held the World Cup the same amount of times.

Well don't feel that people outside hate Scousers.

You have so much positivity that has come from this town. The waterfront and City Centre is really starting to come together. You have 2 great Universities. 2 great footballing clubs with a reputation that very rarely is seen at any other club in the country. A great community, and great spirit. It also has some top birds (Ellison well get it).

Relish in it.

Me too pal, me too.

Well heat would be a problem, also Qatar isn't a footballing nation. Be like playing the Ashes in Spain or Argentina.

Well, I'm guessing talking to people from Liverpool in actual life doesn't involve establishing a thread topic and replying to each point with even spacing ^^ Plus, people tend to be a bit more... erm... "vocal" in their opinions on an anonymous forum.

We're actually not bothered about the reputation. That's the point you're missing completely - we're completely not bothered what the rest of England think. We actually like being Scouse and we're proud of it. We don't hate England, we just don't consider ourselves part of it and, as such, we don't care about trivial "foreign" matters as a by-and-large London-based World Cup falling by the wayside!

Jesus wept, you cannot be serious?

Are you saying that from a point of view of actually attending it?

Actually they're air-conditioning absolutely everything ^^ It's in their proposals. In terms of accomodation and technology it'll be a whopping World Cup. The only downside that they have to cater for is the price for visiting fans of accommodation etc.

Well, I like "new" things. Russia will be like a World Cup time travelling back to the 1970's, whilst the Qatar one is potentially very exciting given how much money Qatar will throw at it to make sure they don't embarrass themselves.

As said above though, ticket costs and travel would be a concern.

I've just watched their bid presentation thingy bob on youtube.

"arrive by water taxi...."

what water?

"arrive by sand taxi..."

Ok well first point. The World Cup is not London based. The final may be there, but that's just Wembley. But it's the capital city because it's the most well equipped and when established was the most efficient and economically sound place to have a capital.

But it's the hypocricy that gets to me. You moan that England ****ed Liverpool over, and then a positive potential outcome doesn't come off and it's a laughable event. Just doesn't make sense to me.

Whether or not you don't feel part of England, you are and you are governed by England.

And finally, millions of new jobs and revenue is not a trivial matter.
