England November a Friendlies vs Chile and Germany

Grim couple of games. I think there's massive cause for concern all over the pitch but that midfield in the heat of Brazil is going to be given the run around. Three out of Hodgson's first four choices for the middle of the park are well over 30 now and to me Wilshire looks nowhere near the player he was before his injury problems.

Townsend is benefiting from being an unknown quantity at the moment, but everything about his one dimensional style of play suggests to me he'll be found out by the time next summer comes around.

Defensively with Hart in goal there's obviously question marks. Jagielka and Cahill at centre half doesn't inspire confidence either, especially the latter who I think is a liability at times.

We'll go out at the group stage if the draw is unkind. Any decent opposition will be picking us off comfortably.

I don't get all the jack wilshire hate off you Englanders...... Vault me on this in the future if you like but this boy is gonna be some player.

These injuries have done him over, similar to how Ramsay looked after returning from the broken leg. I think he'll get there in the end but not by next summer.

I don't think Andros Townsend and Sturridge passed the ball to each other once, two of the greediest players I've ever seen.

Townsend's shoot on sight mantra isn't going to see him become a big name in football.

Sturridge gets a lot of praise off people because he can take a player on and score...... But it happens 1 out of ten times.... He's a very greedy player, which is no always a bad trait as a striker, but it's knowing when to tak a player on and when to pass which stops him becoming a very good striker in my opinion.

Wouldn't call it grim. Thought we played much better last night than we did against Chile, just a shame we don't seem to have anyone who can cross the ball half decently. Germany put a couple decent crosses into our box and scored off of it. We didn't.

Agree on the Townsend point, he seems a bit like a smarter, taller, Theo Walcott to me. Can cut inside and shoot, but other than that just tries to outpace his man to the byline with a few step overs thrown in for good measure. That's pretty much it from what I've seen.

I actually have liked Cahill when I've watched him play for Chelsea (bros are fans), but thought he was poor on Fri, especially for the second goal. Was interesting to watch Jags in possession last night tho, was running the ball out of trouble a lot, throwing in some dummies and stepovers, and even megged one of the Germans at one point slipping a ball up the line!

Think we will do ok if we can get someone decent upfront with Rooney, and some wingers who actually cross the board occasionally. If we can move the ball around like we did for good periods last night, and prevent the sloppy goals we should be able to make the qtrs.

Imagine Ronaldo against Cole or Walker. It'd be fun yet horrible to watch.

Pretty sure we saw that few times a season for several years??? Pretty sure he'll find it tougher going than La Liga or Sweden....

Also Baines may aswell not bother. Cole will prob be first choice, and despite our need for someone who can cross the ball, England have no idea how to use Baines to the best of his ability. He is completely wasted in that team.

Things learned from these 2 games:
Even when Baines has an off game he is still better than Cole.
We have no decent right back.
Smalling is utter tosh.
The few minutes when we had Henderson and Cleverly in midfiled was spine chilling.
Sturridge's first touch is quite gash.
Townsend is pretty decent.
Lallana acquitted himslef pretty well.
Rooney even when he isnt 100% is at least 3 classes better than anyone else in the squad

What? Really? he will be shocking.

has anyone read Redknapp in the sun?? ha ha he still claims 4 or 5 england players would get into Germanys best team!

including Glen Johnson

Furey's Germland Squad:

--------------Neuer-------------
Lahm--Hummels--Badstuber--Baines
------Khedira--Schweinsteiger-----
Muller---------Ozil------------Reus
-------------Rooney--------------

And that's about it mate, possibly swap Baines for Cole if you're that way inclined.

But yeeah, 2/11 make. Just shows the difference in quality.
