International football should be scraped.

Every 4 years a few teams should up for the World Cup. The teams should be selected by the amount of players that Nation has within the premier league. No more than 8 teams and any country in which football isnt the national sport should be banned.

No more pointless friendlies or utterly pointless qualifiers.

You haven't thought this through at all.

Pretty sure that's 8 international matches since the start of the season. Utterly ridiculous.

at this point in time? utterly meaningless. You have the teams in the play offs but they've just played back to back games (not sure when the play offs are). Teams don't need to play right now - straight after qualification has finished. I understand the odd game before competitive games when the playrs have played together for months, but right now? no reason whatsoever.

Either way I reckon we missed the boat with that one- he's Southampton's captain in a season where they're happily coming 3rd and with 3 of their players in the England squad. He'll be in no rush to leave.
