Thought England were the favourites for this.
Although we aren't rank outsiders, Germany are generally considered the favourites with Portugal also strong. Danes are also meant to have their best team in years

Germany are favourites. Their coach, Horst Hrubesch, led them to their 2009 success and that side went on to provide the backbone to the country’s World Cup success in Brazil last year. Again their weakness is up front but the midfield looks intimidatingly strong, with Mainz’s Johannes Geis and Emre Can of Liverpool providing the control and the creativity coming from Max Meyer and Max Arnold of Schalke and Wolfsburg respectively. They could well be joined in qualification from Group A by Denmark, who feel they have something of a golden generation on their hands.

In Group B Portugal provide a tough test for England in their opener and Luigi Di Biagio’s Italy, even without Marco Verratti and Stephan El Shaarawy, will be dangerous and are led by the prolific Domenico Berardi. Sweden are the underdogs but that play-off win over the much-fancied French shows their potential.

Sorry fellows the portuguese side is probably the best u21 team ever, if you consider every single position.

Bernardo Silva is a [Poor language removed] genius and was a bargain for Monaco. William won't be sold unless there is no CL football for Sporting this season.

As a note for future reference, there were, at some point, 7 players from Sporting's youth system plus 1 - who played the whole season for the club - on the pitch. And there's also Eric Dier, who spent one season at Everton, who could be there too, on the english side.

So we EFC should put some attention at developing local young talents.

It pays off!!!

This portuguese side has won every single oficial match! 11 matches for real and 11 wins!!!

Good to see you back.

Listening to Talksport (I know), people going on about how England should be "slaughtering" teams like Portugal, because their players all play for top Premier League clubs, and ours come from the Portuguese league so really how can we compete with England if they are in top form?

It's funny because that sort of mentality is probably a big factor in why the England national teams remain so average. All this sort of rubbish that is spouted in some English media no doubt makes the opposition team talks a lot easier as well.
