Stephen Gerrard;

On what they were missing: "goals"

On why: "We weren't good enough in the final third"

Is he in denial, or just that stupid? They lacked everything tonight, let's start with basic ball control, simple passing ability, no vision whatsoever, no team spirit on show. Goals is way down on the list of where this team is coming up short.

And "not good enough in the final third"? From 1 to 11 they were an absolute joke tonight, nobody perfomed well and to shift the blame to the forward players is indicative of the man.

They should lynch them, never mind boo them.

I disagree.. Something is wrong with the team internally, whether it be managment (which I think is the case) or chemistry, what have you..

Rooney is a beast and I like him alot, he is obviously playing injured as well..

English fans are brutal. . Just saying .. .

Ghost, I'm only a casual basketball fan, but I empathize from that perspective - for most of the nineties USA fans watched our "superstar" teams play like utter [Poor language removed] - overpaid, overhyped millionaires who didn't look like they had the slightest clue how to play the game, had no passion to play for country, and couldn't survive outside of a league that tailored the officiating to coddle their precious arses.

Sorry man - that just ******* sucks. They looked like they didn't give a [Poor language removed] - that's worse than getting beat - that's even worse than getting beat by somebody you should be better than.

You know what that reminded me of.

A very, very recent away peformance by Everton

Wigan - Everton anyone?

It must be this. So many passes missed the target, it looked like it was the first time they had played together.

what was that, I have never seen such shiite in an england shirt.
why does that f**kwit persist with a four four two when we can't control the midfield , most teams in the prem play five across the centre and its the only way to get the best out of both Lampard and Gerrard

Christ, why do I do this to myself? Isn't being an Everton fan bad enough without putting myself through this [Poor language removed] as well?

We were poor in the first game and we were poor there. Everybody (apart from maybe James) underperformed, noone at all looked bothered. Our formation was ineffective and nobody bloody stuck to it, so Heskey and Rooney were running around their own penalty area. We couldn't pass, we couldn't cross, we couldn't shoot. Just bollocks, all of it.

A draw was a fair result. Algeria, despite passing very well, never really managed a decent ball to in our box, we never managed to beack their defense (Boughera was very good) and frankly if we play like that on wednesday we're out. And we won't deserve to have gone through.

As much as it pains me to say it, based on the matches today we're not one of the two best teams in this group.

The only bloody good news is that I'm at a wedding tomorrow so I have a good excuse to drink myself into a coma.

The only 'people' surprised by the English peformance are the media/journ's and the idiots in St George face paint that build them off, ya average footy fan is a bit more intelligent.

Thinking about it, it wasn't pretty - not by a long chalk. England just panic when they get it in and around the goal there's no composure there. They looked untroubled at the back for the most part and Algeria looked clueless in the final third. A decent team with creativity to pick out a pass (Joe Cole was criminally absent) would have beaten Algeria by a couple of clear goals.
