England v Australia - THE ASHES

Applies to Australia's Dad's Army for me. Won't win a test match. If the Vogeses of the world are better cricketers than the likes of Maxwell and Faulkner, then Australia deserve the hiding they will receive from an average England team...

Heads 'may' roll they say.
Watson Voges Haddin will do well to start the 2nd test...though Haddin might squeeze in

11.00am = 8.00pm for me...which lets Mrs Degsy watch all the crap she likes in the other room...win - win

There is plenty of rain around in the south-east during the first part of the week, which might hamper pitch preparations, so another slow low one perhaps? (although less by design this time).

We (NZ) play Aussie at the end of the year. Unlike the recent series between us and England, (which assisted England in getting honed for this Ashes series), your lot beating Aussie will do NZ no favours as it will usher in a new hungry and very talented young generation of baggy greens to play us in our series against them. A wounded Aussie cricket team is a very dangerous adversary.

,,,,still hope you beat them though. I detest Brad Haddin

The Australian contingent commentating on Test Match Special were saying how little there is in the cupboard for the Aussie Test team. They rated both Marsh's and Neville but said there was nothing stacked up behind.

I hope that's the case. But Aussie cricket talent is like NZ rugby's...there always appears a production line of quality

I've been saying it for months since the World Cup that Australian batting is poor in the test team. Playing Dad's Army just makes it worse. Been a problem for a few years now.
For the life of me I can't understand why you wouldn't play the guns in the one day team. Maxwell and Faulkner for me should be in.
Anyway. A good old Ashes humiliation will bring through necessary changes.

I think it's a bit early to be on such a downer.

Because Maxwell is a headcase and Faulkner is a drunk.

I dn't know about that, since theri legion of greats retired they haven't been anything special or dominant, not that long ago they were pretty weak, then a combination of clarkes captaincy and lehmann leadership along with johnsons renaissance put them up there again, but nowhere near were they were, harris's late summer career helped, but he is gone, Starc will be a fine player as will Warner, Smith is good but nowhere near a number one in the world. This is a very decent aussie side, but very beatable too, the NZ series will be interesting to say the least, and englands utter capitulation in oz is no marker of how good this lot are
