And it will be very interesting to see how a new spinner to the team will bowl in Abu Dhabi vs. Pakistan with England having gone the last 16 Tests with Ali and Root doing the spinning job. No pressure there then on spinner-friendly wickets.

If Lyth fails again in this test then Hales should be given a go. He shouldn't just be seen as a one day batsman. Trescothick was a destructive one day batsman and he could also bat in Test cricket.
I bet they stick with Lyth though.
