England vs. Bulgaria

It does amuse me that, before this game, people who reckoned this would be an easy win for England (which frankly, for a team generally consider to be in the top 8/16 in the world, a home game against an opponent who hasn't qualified for the last few tounaments should be) were told they would never learn and to stop being so arrogant. But now that we did win easily that's exactly what should have happened and therefore no reason to get excited.

I happen to agree that a comfortable home win was about what I would expect and no more but it's still quite amusing that everyone else agrees now since I would have been eaten alive if I'd said that on here before the match started.

It's all -Ov and -Ev with us, really.

Inexperienced? Seriously?
Manolev - 24 years old, excellent RB; regular starter at PSV; amazing player.
Stoyanov - 32 years old, good CB, great experience, plays somewhere in Japan or something now tho.
Ivanov - 22 years old, absolute garbage of a player, it does my head in how he's a starter.
Milanov - 26 years old, was the captain of Levski in his last year, moved somewhere in Romania now. Played LB, tho originally a RB.

We were, much like Everton, lacking quality upfront, which is weird, considering our best players are there. Bojinov played nothing.

So that translates to : you just beat a very garbage side 4:0 and are amazingly proud of it. It was 4 points anyway and we were with the previous coach who was utter [Poor language removed]. When Stoilov came in we played better, even though we were smashed by a Cyprus side 4-1, thanks to Ivan Ivanov, again, who made about 27 individual mistakes giving them the ball near the box. By the way we dominated both matches with them, if i'm not mistaken, even tho we finished 1:1 in both.

That is THE biggest arse handing I have ever seen Ghost take.

Not really. It looks like a misunderstanding to me. Ghost was saying that England did well against a good Bulgarian side with an inexperienced back line (meaning Jagielka, Hart etc haven't had a lot of international games.) He meant Englands defence but it was worded awkwardly so NSNO thought he meant bulgaria's denfense, which he didn't.

If anything NSNO is on ghost's side here by arguing that bulgaria are better then Neiler's saying.

Its him trying to make out like Bulgaria are a decent side and England are BACK! You'd think that England fans would learn that they're going to win nothing during their lifetime.

The Bulgarian coming on and confirming Bulgaria are crap and that he's trying to big up a lucky England win nailed him.

But England fans are comfortable to ignorant of the facts or all reality, they deserve their media and their media deserve them.

I think you've misread that post to be honest but fair enough.

I agree that Bulgaria aren't exactly Spain or Holland but you can only beat whats in front of you. I still think we're only really a quarters finals team at heart but its still nice to see us win. And it'll be nice to see us qualify if we do.

I also think the press enthusiasm/delusional optimism is often a lot more ironic then it's given credit for but that might be mostly cos I swerve [Poor language removed] like the Mail.

Beating what is in front of you, true. Like Algeria and the USA. That gives and indication of England's current level mate, but then beating a mediocre team like Bulgaria starts all the pish again. I know its painful for England to admit but they're are not a world force, or even a European one in football.

As for the media thing, its far from ironic, it's consistently embarrassing. When Scotland beat France in their own backyard a couple of years ago, the Scottish media were still expecting the fall to come.

You know I like you, mate but come on. You're having a go at England finishing 2nd in a world cup group rather than winning it out right? You do remember that the scots haven't even ever managed that in the entire history of the game, right?

Scraping through one of the easiest groups, then getting tonked out of sight by the first half decent team they played? Come on mate, that is the realism, anything else is just conjecture.

That's all I'm saying, England fans needs a little dose of realism.

Yep, Scotland are [Poor language removed]* mate. But difference is, we know it and understand it.

* apart from that Archie Gemmill moment which was the second best World Cup moment ever.
