England vs Israel

I totally disagree. AJ has not proven his class on the International stage.

Heskey did a job today and if you think you have better football knowledge then Ian Wright, Shearer and Hansen, where have you been for 20 years?

It was no coincidence that as soon as Heskey went off the pitch we lacked something up front. But then we did win plenty of throw ins.

Ok, so he missed one chance, but he provided.

I think he deserves his chance at the moment, because nobody else is really putting up a flag.

How about some credit for a great performance today. I would rather see England do well then see Neville and AJ on the pitch. I don't think either of them have done enough to warrant a place. Lescott is different, but he's not going to shift that defence.

it will take a lot more than a 3-0 win over israel at wembley to think england are back. it was a job well done. and i'm happy the boys won me some e credits. but i am a jaded fan. for too long england have been boring and the new manager seems worse than the old one.

if england miss out on the euro's i wont be bothered. trust me, i used to love england but they are a horrible side to watch. 2006 w/c i was bored watching the games.

perhaps today is the kevin brook back pass. i hope so. england.. make me care again! please!

Well your only as good as your last performance.

So lets get behind the team eh?

Haha you have such a way with words to piss people off!!! Haha brilliant.

Read what i said he did OK tonight. [Poor language removed] me even Claus Thomsen had ok games.

I personally think and this is personally now, that England should have better than Heskey. [Poor language removed] the fact that he was a red i dont give a monkeys about that- I just really dont rate him as a player. Ive seen a bit of him this year and nothing he has done has made me think- 'I know you should play for England!'

Im behind my country 110% and I would never boo any of the players that pull on the three lions. I cheered out loud when we scored tonight and didnt care if the person who scored played for the [Poor language removed] the mancs or Bear Flat football Club.

Ok fair enough.

But answer me this, did England look more potent when he was not on the pitch? Did AJ do enough to stake a claim? Do you think England should play with 2 small strikers? Or do you think they need a target man?

Its similar to Ferguson, quite often he didn't perform in front of goal, but his presence as a target man was evident and I think that was the case tonight.

I don't think he was outstanding, but I think he did a great job of causing problems for the defence.

and heskey has proved his international class then has he? 45 games and 5 goals thats not class mate thats [Poor language removed]!!!!!!!

Now isnt it a lot nicer when you dont patronise people.

If we based everything on form we would sell Arteta in January, he hasnt had the sort of impact he has for the last two seasons- up to now. Dont forget form is temporary, class is permanent.

I like the big man little man partnership but I can also see the benefits of two small fast forwards when you have got players that can pick a pass in the middle of the park. AJ pulls defenders all over the place and creates space for his strike partner- someone like Owen would benefit massively with having space to run into.

One of the most prolific partnerships in the Premiership was with two strikers who many deemed 'too similar' Ferdinand and shearer anyone??

heskey and presence dont make me laugh mate. [Poor language removed] me he did ok against israel yes ISRAEL ffs. and yes i thought aj did OK as well and yes two small strikers did OK as well!!!

so if you are happy with ok then so be it !!!!

shreck and owen and crouch when needed that will do for me and yes ghost that is two small strikers but i think they will be better than just OK!!

Ok,

Israel 17 points, so not a [Poor language removed] side.

AJ played one good pass, I can actually count the amount of quality moves he has done for England on one hand, and I can guarantee many non-Everton fans agree.

I'm going to defend Heskey because he played well, and did a good job as a target man. Which lets face it, is how England like to play.

I am happy because we performed well and won 3-0. I don't think AJ has performed for England anywhere near as well as his club form last season. Rooney has not performed anywhere near as well as he did during the last Euro Champs.

So forget Rooney.

For the Russia game who are we going to play?

Two strikers who know each other's game inside and out, and have a great partnership at both levels?

Or do we play two similar strikers who are not used to playing alongside eachother and very often pull out wide and leave nobody in the middle?

Or do we bring back Crouch and play him instead of Heskey?

Didn't think I was patronising people, just felt that as Evertonians we seem to have blinkers on when it comes to England.

I thought Heskey had a decent game, although I get the feeling it was a one off I can't see him playing to the standard he played tonight everytime he puts on the England jersey. He's had his chance he proved he is a donkey [Poor language removed] him off....

But at the same time Johnson can't play for england I'm sorry today he was hopeless as much as I wanted him to get a goal today he looked well out of his depth.

against Russia Heskey and Owen upfront for me....Heskey plays like he did against Isreal should be a comfortable win but if he looks as though he's going to half ass the match haul him off after 20 minutes I've seen enough of him in an England shirt.

Then throw AJ on.

Yeah, and I still believe people in general have blinkers on when it comes to England.

Look I'm not just talking about you here, its on the forums, its the north south divide on England players, Lampard this and Gerrard that. Blah blah blah.

But I also think fans of certain clubs are protective of their own when it comes to the national games. And many had already made their mind up with Heskey, as did many with Crouch when he was booed two years ago. Then he started scoring and it was all forgotten.

But anyway, its nothing personal, I just think when experts have an opinion, they are more valued then the common fan.

Bizarre comment about donkeys, kind of praising Heskey then slagging him off, is that because he played for Liverpool?

Its also worth noting, has anyone seen any subsitute apart from Lennon, make any impact whatsoever? Because I haven't, its almost like they are pissed off that they are on the bench and don't feel they have to prove themselves once they get on the pitch.

Dafoe is a classic example of this, he is always on the bench, but when he comes on - he does nothing to try and stake a claim.
