English managers

Absolutely, just wondering why our managers in our own league are never a success.
I think this will start to change slowly. Cooper is Welsh but has spent a lot of time going through the English coaching system, he was manager of England U17s for example. Won a world cup with them and was runner-up in the Euros. There are some quite promising young English/British managers in the EFL too. I think the coaching education seems to be getting more in line with other countries now. Previously it was more the old Charles Hughes "get it in the mixer" style.

Also a bit harsh calling Howe a one season wonder, when he took Bournemouth from bottom of league 2 with a points deduction, all the way to the premier league.
I don't think instant CL was expected here and they've been competitive where it mattered without spending infinity billions - most of that is down to Howe.

Suppose we'll see if he manages to push on but he's doing quite well. Also didn't he go to basically anywhere in Europe where they'd take him to see different methods and actually learn?

Not sure mate, he might well have done.

Why are English managers crap?
Or are their names not trendy enough?

Should we put vowels at the end of their names and we will see them in a better light?

Seriously, are English managers behind the times with style and tactics, i think they are.
Are they progressive enough, do they improve individuals like foreign coaches/managers do?

Why do they always seem to park the bus and see what we can get from a set piece type of tactics.

English managers in and around the PL in recent years.
Lampard: Utter gash
Gerrard: Gash
Allardyce: Oxygen thief
Pulis: tit
Dean Smith: Garbo
Sean Dyche: crap
Roy Hodgson: Cwap
Graeme Potter: jury is out
Steve Cooper: done a good job
Gary O'Neil: done ok
Eddie Howe: fantastic 1st season, (one season wonder?)

All of them always operate in the lower echelons of the PL why?

None of them managers are actually "crap."

Gerrard with Rangers stopped Celtic winning 10 in a row. Which was actually a fantastic achievement considering Rangers were miles behind Celtic and since he's left, Van Bronkhurst took over and they got worse. Now his old assistant has a job on his hands rebuilding.

Lampard, had a decent season with derby IMO has a lot of potential. But needs more experience before taking any Premier League job. Should never got given the Chelsea or Everton job.

Eddie Howe is certainly not crap, and I've been a big fan of his and annoyed that our fanbase turned up our nose whenever we were linked with him. Did amazing job at Bournemouth for years and has overachieved so far at the barcodes.

The rest of those names are OK and have achieved some success within their jobs.

What you might be doing is comparing them to world class managers. Since the Premier League has the pick of the best in the world. And lets not forget, theres been plenty of terrible foreign managers.

English managers need to manage abroad and win things. It can be done, especially if Steve McClaren can do it.

english managers receive and can read the english gutter press. all of the home nations representatives can and are pursued by said gutter press.
Have a look at the league's top scorer, he is a Didier Drogba type monster, all muscle and menace. Having a brute up top worked for george graham, and has worked over years subsequent.

I was listening to a podcast earlier. It said after he left Bournemouth he went to Atletico to shadow Simeone for a while.

Van Gaal, Gus Hiddink, Pochettino, Bobby Robson, Benitez, Houllier, Sarri all crap because "they never won the premier league"?

One English manager on that list, and all had the tools at their disposal to win the League, and they all failed and ultimately sacked.

I’m talking Mercer, Revie, Catterick, Kendall, Paisley, Clough, Fagan, Saunders, Ramsay, Wilkinson.. real Managers who won the League. Theres been no English Manager a patch on those guys and besides, thats what what the threads about.

You said not winning the league is the definition of being crap.
