English managers

Not based on the fact that English managers have that tiny prerequisite of being from England then? lol

Which is why I was making the point that EPL has the pick of world class managers from around the world. They are competing with the very best in the world.

Just like theres a list of great managers who aren't English who've managed in England haven't won it. But have had outstanding careers.

Likewise, English have been successful aboard since last time an English manager won the English league.

So they're competing with the very best in the world in the allegedly best league in the world and being mostly garbage, does that not mean they're just not very good?

English managers success abroad though lol lol

No, I think it just means they are not the best in the league since there are many levels between best and garbage. Not everything has to be an extreme at one end or the other.

It is difficult for English managers as they are competing against some of the very best coaches in the world, but the premier league pays the best wages, so it is also difficult to convince a good english coach to go abroad and possibly win league titles in lesser leagues, but only earn 20% of what they could earn with a mid table epl team, or even a top championship team.

Yeah it's defo money and not knowing how the league works or having to Joey Barton a second language.

Can't people just admit that yeah, there's a few good ones, but the majority are crap and why they're not at the top level and probably never will be. Even the ones that are suffer from Brexit football syndrome anyway.

You know you laugh at the idea that English managers have had any success abroad and Roy Hodgson has been used as an example in this thread of being "cwap". But he's won 9 league titles abroad. He's revered in Sweden as a top quality manager.

Like WA Toffee says, "not everything has to be extreme at one end or the other"

Liverpool, Man Utd, Arsenal and Chelsea have been the big four in the Premier League era, with the highest resources that gives them an advantage over the others. Arsenal and Man Utd haven't chosen a permanent English manager since the 80s. Liverpool and Chelsea have overwhelmingly chosen foreign coaches within the Premier League period.

Even though English managers notoriously don't go abroad, it hasn't stopped them wining stuff with foreign clubs in the Premier League era, like the European Cup Winners Cup, Copa Del Rey, Copa De Espana, Primeira Divisao, Supertaça Cândido de Oliveira, Eredivisie, Ziraat Türkiye Kupası, Super Liga, Danish Super Cup, etc

And Graham Potter is "crap" all of a sudden, but he took a tiny Swedish club up from the fourth tier to the top flight for the first time in their history, winning the cup and qualifying for Europe on the way. He's still a good coach, he had a bad stint at Chelsea, but he's not crap.

Loving the quick googlefu that happened here.

They're just not very good mate, that's the truth of it. Soz.

None of them managers are actually "crap."

Gerrard with Rangers stopped Celtic winning 10 in a row. Which was actually a fantastic achievement considering Rangers were miles behind Celtic and since he's left, Van Bronkhurst took over and they got worse. Now his old assistant has a job on his hands rebuilding.

Lampard, had a decent season with derby IMO has a lot of potential. But needs more experience before taking any Premier League job. Should never got given the Chelsea or Everton job.

Eddie Howe is certainly not crap, and I've been a big fan of his and annoyed that our fanbase turned up our nose whenever we were linked with him. Did amazing job at Bournemouth for years and has overachieved so far at the barcodes.

The rest of those names are OK and have achieved some success within their jobs.

What you might be doing is comparing them to world class managers. Since the Premier League has the pick of the best in the world. And lets not forget, theres been plenty of terrible foreign managers.

English managers need to manage abroad and win things. It can be done, especially if Steve McClaren can do it.
Frank Lampard not crap? Hahahahahahahahahahahahaha
