Problem its hard to convince a good, proven player to come in and be an obvious back up to Lukaku.

Ideally there should be someone from the youth set up pushing for game time but we havnt had a striker come through for a while.

Yeah, we've got a defender and midfield factory going on, but no strikers as of yet

He had his best spell at West Ham playing as a wide forward, with Sakho (who would have been a better target) central.

I take it that once again the plan was for Lukaku to play 90 minutes of every game, and never get injured or have another goal drought.

Probably the same who jumped on anyone daring to say Niasse wasn't good enough either. there must have been a reason why west ham didn't want him.......

Personally on last night, he looks like a crap shane long. As a striker he is no better than niasse/del in that position and left us no option up top. consdering we probably panic loaned him at the last minute, not too disheartened that he isn't the same calibre as the other signings.

It does beg the question what do we do without lukaku considering we knew we needed a back up for the past 2 seasons and have still done nothing to change that.

Price was low enough i would take rhodes in a heartbeat.

Great scoring record in the lower leagues mate. Means you would expect 10 from him in a season roughly if you create enough chances for him, not bad seeing as though i dont expect 10 between Valencia and kone this season!

Should have been in for Negrado, never mind this absolute no-mark Valencia. The money we're throwing down the toilet on Valencia, Kone and Niasse - easily over 100k a week - surely another 50k for Negrado wouldn't have been an issue at all.

None of this nonsense there's none out there. Southampton were able to get Charlie Austin last January. There's always players available if you are willing to spend the money.

I agree with you for once.

Problem is, a lot of strikers probably signed for other clubs to become the number 1 striker. We can't really guarantee that with Lukaku knockin' about.

Rubbish. Charlie Austin went to Southamton to be backup to Pelle. Perez would have come to us.

That's an excuse the happy clappers use to explain signings like Valencia. It's just not true.
