Makes me wonder how Middlesbrough were able to sign Alvara Negrado.

Or Stoke could sign Bony.

etc.

Football is about money, and we can supposedly pay top whack nowadays.
goal scoring machine alvara negrado? or actually decent striker wilfried bony? you mean two guys who wanted starting positions and went to teams that could guarantee them that? shocking we didn't get their signatures

we're not in enough competitions to warrant most decent strikers coming to sit on our bench. it's gonna take a lot of money or someone more versatile who can play up top but also wide or in the hole so they can get a decent amount of game time. that player is hard to find.

But we obviously couldnt....

You cant just buy anyone. Someone who wants to come here, more than likely as a back up, will want decent money to be a back up, someone who his club wants to sell and most importantly someone who will fit in with how the manager plays and how he expects players to be.

Its not as easy as just "buy Bony" or whatever. Would be nice if it was but it isnt.

Oh and wages again, We sold Stones who was on what, 40k at most? The players we brought in will probably all be above that, that's a lot of additional money each week to pay out.

We will probably get someone in January anyway.
We obviously couldn't?

Why because we didn't. That's convenient. Maybe just maybe the board messed up.

I guess you also think in Moyes' first window for Utd they as league champions and one of the biggest clubs in the world also couldn't attract players. Maybe the simpler more obvious reason is the right reason.

Stop trying to rationalize what was an awful performance by the board/Kenwright/Moshiri or whoever was to blame.

Our appeal. What nonsense. Southampton signed Austin as a backup. Rondon went to West Brom. Even Stoke got Bony.

At the start of the window everyone thought Rom was going so people can't even use the backup argument.

I don't need to read someone's diary to know that we left it to the end of the window. That's exactly what happened. How do I know this? Because we weren't even linked to anyone until about a week to go.

(1) answered the first part
(2) everyone in the media and in the stands. the situation seemed different in the club. also Esk called him staying in like June or early July.
(3) all that means is deals hadn't gotten to the media, not that we weren't pursuing anyone. you don't even know who does what only that it's said kenwright is still involved in some capacity.

It's like 2007 in here.

Three biggest con-men in football are Kone, Niasse and by the looks of things Valencia. And we are making all three millionaires for absolutely nothing in return. I'd rather have that new lad from Sheffield starting than any of them three.

Not sure if it's already been said, but Naismith would be a much better option than Valencia in my opinion. Shame that we let him go given that he'd play the "Shane Long role" pretty well for Koeman.

Stop acting like its your money and you are playing Fifa then!

Moyes couldnt attract anyone because he is a footballing dinosaur.

It wasn't different in the club. It was only at the end of the window when the move didn't materialize when Ron himself said Rom came to him wanting to stay it changed and we knew he was staying. Up to that point I was expecting him to leave. Sorry if I don't base everything I think on what esk says. I doubt I'm the only one.

It's funny how they all reach the media about a week before either a deal goes through or falls apart and also funny that all happened at the end of the window.

Either a) we were working all window to bring in our top target or b) we left it till the end of the window to start going after targets.

Both are strategic failures.

Lets get one thing right here, Naismith isnt good enough! There is a reason why he is a Norwich reserve. We were right to sell him when we did.

Great bloke, good finisher when a chance comes his way. His all round game is lacking regardless of comparisons to anyone else.

This.

He's played one game, when most of the players around him had an off day, meaning little or no service for most of the game.

Give him a chance you FIFA obsessed nutters.
All of the players around him including all those that came on. Hmmmm. I think I see a simpler reason why he had no service.
