Transfer Rumour Ernest Nuamah

I get your point, but Harrison is left footed and has to cut in onto his left boot. If we want to add to our attacking options we need someone who can do both, cutting in and also beat a man on the outside and cross. We currently lack the ability to break with pace and put an early ball into a dangerous area. Look at Forest with their big target man. They're thriving of this style of play. Also under Carlo we crossed the ball way more than we have been under Dyche and DCL was a different player. We haven't been playing to DCL's strength under Dyche, we've just been lumping balls to him from deep. If we had the ability to break at pace and put a ball in while the defenders are turned and on the back foot, whoever if playing central for us would have far more chances. I certainly wouldn't want another winger who couldn't cross a ball when required.
Forest thrive with Wood because he can finish all sorts of chances, he is clinical. Forest break with pace through the midfield and the wings, they’re not just spamming crosses and hoping, they counterattack with fluid passes and power. DCL would be dreadful in Forest’s team, he simply cannot finish with his feet. Elanga, CHO are their wingers and you certainly wouldn’t class them as cross-first. I’m so sick of boring crosses that hit the first man, we need to move away from that style as soon as possible. DCL’s best service under Carlo was from Digne - A FULL BACK. Modern wingers, the best wingers right now do not cross the ball as a first priority, they look to cut inside and score. We’re a decade behind the times and it’s sorely showing.

Just seen this lad plays on the right but is left footed. He'd be cutting in to cross the ball every time... Can we not just find a right footed right winger please?
He doesn't tend to mix it up at all and go outside. His positional sense isn't natural and needed help from teammate's on the pitch which is ok in developing player if they are prepared to take advice on board.

His finishing of chances when presented looked ok .

We might need to look elsewhere then because this lad not got a record of scoring goals, cutting inside or not. I'd also have to disagree over DCL in Forest's team. Wood has been a target man his whole career, but he's getting quality supply from his team. They're set up to break with pace and he does get early balls into him from the break away. They don't have to be crosses from the by line, just quality balls into him on the break. The same sort of supply for DCL and he would be much more regular with the goals. DCL's best season was based around good supply, Fullback or not, if we are adding goals we need to add someone with that ability, not just another Harrison.

That’s fair to a point, this lads goals in Ligue 1 is worrying. We need clinical. Not sure this lad is the answer but they were keen in summer and Fulham were sniffing around.

All that aside, DCL is not the answer alongside him. He is not and never will be a natural finisher. The supply is irrelevant unless it’s a world class cross or a tap in from a yard. I’d be looking to sell him as a priority this window and get some value to put into a higher calibre winger or a left back who doesn’t disintegrate past the half way line

Forest have one of lowest amount of passes played in the whole league in the attacking third, they have a deadly finisher and 3-4 players behind that are very comfortable on the ball and move forward.

Other people have made the point about what modern wingers do, but additionally, remember many years ago how Moyes used inverted wingers and the best combo was Baines and Pienaar? Pienaar was right footed playing on the left.

If Moyes actually plays Patterson, who is decent going forward and has a wicked cross on him, with a pacy skillful player like Nuamah in front of him, it could work.

Pacy agreed, but skillful is pushing it a bit.

I think the Fulham interest was more to do with having Adama Traore playing a specific role down their right and having someone as quick to bring on, so as not to disrupt their style of play.

Definitely demonstrated skills at Nordsjaelland and has on occasion at Lyon, but seems to have struggled with the step up Ligue 1 and there is a huge step up again to the PL.

However, Lyon have so many excellent wingers it has been difficult for him to establish himself and he is still only 21. These are the kinds of signings we always moan about when other clubs do them, so we should start.

There's talent there. As I said before, I am not a Moyes fan, but he does coach and improve footballers (just not strikers), so let's see.

We have to be real careful with what limited funds are available this window, but we do need numbers in, the squad is thin.
Maybe he might be the best available to us in January.

Bet you here would cost much less in PSR terms than, say, Tom Fellows, who I really like the look of.

Some January signings are key and low down-payments are the key to avoiding PSR shenanigans. French clubs tend to like the low down-payment model. As you said, could be the best available and probably splits the difference between being a complete unknown youth signing and someone who had enough experience to help our current predicament.

N’Diaye had a poor record over there, and he’s easily our best attacking player.
