Transfer Rumour Ernest Nuamah

Yep. Looked like he had so much talent at Nordsjaelland. Sometimes moves don’t work out for younger players. Look at Lookman for us.
Lyon have been a shambles and he's been treated quite poorly so I think you can excuse poor performance- fairly similar circumstances to Ndiaye. His performances in Denmark are a good indicator of what he can do, you can't completely ignore what happened in France but if he was coming straight from Denmark we'd be very excited about his prospects. Scored a lot of goals over there too.

Aside from very few of the people on this forum who watch a lot of football, most will have no idea what any of our transfer targets outside of the UK are like.

Yet some people form very strong opinions about players before we've even signed them.

Some also seem to have a massive issue paying anything above £20m for a player as though it's still 2010.

Probably as we've got a history awful value for money for so many around that price.
Im still trying to revover from cenk tosun for £25m.
Tip of the iceberg.

Not sure the rumours at the moment warrant the acceptance of a deal being done but aside from that it’s another case of there being balance to the situation. It is quite a lot of money for somebody with his record, and concerns are very valid based on our record in recent years, but also it is very much the type of deal we moan about other teams doing when they work out. This is where managers and DoFs have to earn their money, we’re due a good one.

We rarely buy at that range though. The main culprits were in and around Moshiri's early tenure and the whole thing was shambolic.

Fundamentally our recruitment has been appalling for nearly a decade.

Nah we did get obsessed for a long time with seemingly never buying anyone for less than about £20m and most of them were poor value. We could have bought the same quality for much cheaper, as evidenced by other teams, so it’s easy see why people worry we may be making the same mistakes again. You’re right that people seem to form strong opinions based on very little, but I totally get the tendency to worry about fees when we’ve been burnt so badly so often.

Seems he had a decent start, was told he was leaving by the club and sent for a medical and the transfer was rug pulled. Makes sense to he unsettled after that.

Who knows?

It's a yes for me. Sure, the end product needs work, but in his one full season before the Lyon transfer at Nordsjaelland in Denmark, at 19 years of age in season 2022/23, he scored 15 goals and 4 assists in 34 appearances, was named the Danish Superliga Player of the Year for 2022/23 as well as the Danish Superliga Young Player of the Year. Nordsjaelland finished runner up in the league that season, with the youngest squad in Europe.

Sure things went south at Lyon, but there were other more experienced players ahead of him, and the club is a shambles. If he can find the final ball and/or release the ball earlier at times, there is a real player here, with electric speed and purportedly excellent dribbling and finishing skills. Apparently one of his issues is trying to dribble past 4-5 players instead of settling for 1-2 and then the pass/shot.

Composure, concentration, and decision making need work, but in Moyes we trust...

If this move does materialize , I'll be content as it's a winger with pace something our squad is lacking and not form any further opinions until he has some time on the pitch in a couple of games. Silva has a pretty good eye for talent so if he was making an effort sign him , he's obviously has some promising abilities. Also I found the whole situation where he became flustered as he was on the verge of being on loan with fulham kinda endearing , shows that footballers are humans especially someone in their early twenties and new situations especially that might of been foisted on you can be intimidating. If he does sign maybe put the whinging on hold till he disappoints your lofty expectations formed supposedly from following a club that has battled relegation three seasons straight and welcome him to the club by providing your support
