I tried a traditional Sunday dinner in Lisbon once. Was basically a massive bowl of different boiled meat. Probably one of the most disgusting meals I’ve ever had put in front of me.

My Sunday roast tonight consisted of chicken leg marinated in avocado oil and smoked paprika, chirozo, chipolatas, sweet potato, red onion, red pepper, whole garlic cloves, paprika and avocado oil cooked together in a a casserole dish. Washed down with a nice Malbec. So I guess I can at least tick off the chicken from that list.

Haven't read the thread so I'll just add a few of my favourite personal ingredients.

Parmesan for the parsnips.
Bit of honey, orange zest in carrots (if mashed).
Caraway seeds with cabbage.
Squeezed lemon on roasties before going in oven.

There's folks spoiling in here, we've had declarations over bisto, now the cauli cheese is getting serious... what next, types of stuffing? which sausage for pigs in blankets? Christmas morning mimosa's? There'll be anarchy, and bad feeling like being stuck with the strawberry or coffee cremes in the roses tin...

I like a traditional Sunday roast in the British tradition, but I'm not wedded to it. My old man would act like the world was about to end if some form of a roast dinner wasn't in the offing around 2pm on a Sunday lol.

I went Lamb, roasties, mint sauce. Elizabeth I decreed that lamb must be served with bitter herbs to help the wool trade or something.

I don't remember the exact details, but getting lamb in this corner of the world is tricky, right up there amongst my most missed foods.
