Not far off was I. If anything he's gone even more defensive than I suggested. Have no doubts, this is 5 at the back with 2 holding midfielders in front of them, with no link to the front 3. The same format we played in last years dire performances in the UEFA Nations League.

He could have gone 3 at the back to counter the Germans, and still left it fairly aggressive by playing Saka at LWB, Mount in the midfield alongside Rice, leaving a choice of Grealish or Foden to play in the front 3 alongside Kane and Sterling. We'd still have good options from the bench too.

Southgate has basically shat himself at the first glimpse of quality. Shameful.

A report in the Evening Standard described how a nine-year-old boy fled to the top deck of a bus after his father was confronted and punched in the stomach by an England fan when a group of 40 spotted their shirts through the windows. There have been claims that some young Denmark supporters were spat at when they entered the stadium.

“My daughters aged 14 and 11 did not dare show off their Danish shirts and hats because they were intimidated by the English fans,” Sigrun Matthiesen Campbell told the Danish website DR. “We were spat on when we entered the stadium, and people shouted insults.”

The big difference being the team and the majority of fans will condemn this behaviour, rather than claim it was France (Insert country of choice to replace Chelsea).

Absolutely disgusting stuff that has no place in society, hopefully they are found and punished heavily.

I feel sure there's a massive PR job being done on a hard core of nazis who follow England - keeping a lid on reporting their crimes during this tournament because it's going well on the pitch.
