Euro Semi finals - ENG V NL; SPA v FRA

Let's face it, getting to the final in these circumstances isn't something to celebrate - it absolutely had to be expected with literally every good team in the other side of the draw.

The performances, apart from tonight, have been largely awful. Tonight they came across the 'best' possible opposition in their half of the draw, and they - Netherlands - played absolutely awfully all game.

The referee handed them a penalty that should never have been awarded - a truly scandalous decision that has cost Netherlands dearly.

An unreal sequence of luck for England to get to the final, and they'll need another huge stroke of good fortune if they're to win the thing. Yet they might still do, seem to have the rub of the green.

Can't really Argue if he gets Knighted if we win on Sunday, will be the first manager since Sir Alf.

What I Dislike is the rumours saying he'd be knighted anyway win or lose, failure with the best english team for decades shouldn;t be rewarded!!

Given our history, is two finals, a semi final and a quarter final in successive tournaments a failure?

We've never had a run like that.

Look how people went on about that Belgium side and see how much better we've been

He "won" and scored the penalty if you wanted to play devils advocate here...
A bung won us that penalty and really he should have hit the target / scored with that opportunity.

He has added very little to the England team for the lst 3 tournaments playing the way he does. Get Watkins or Toney on and things are different.

Thankfully Southgate gave a sub more than 5 mins to make a change.

Spain will be under all the pressure in the world.

They had never won in Germany before, so losing to the hosts was not unexpected. France were the pre-tournament favourites and proven winners. The pressure was off there, too. But they'll be obliged to beat this England team.

I wouldn't be so sure they'll have the cojones to do it against a side that has massive momentum and belief given the surreal manner of their victories.

Perfect summary

Football so uninteresting. Kane being congratulated on “winning” a penalty (grown man rolls about faking an injury). VAR awarding a penalty for a striker kicking a defender’s foot.

And the way this tournament gives no injury time is a farce too.

Impossible to enjoy any of it.

Here’s one for the record books. I’m gonna give Southgate some credit. Dragging Kane off, and putting Shaw on at half time. My opinion of him as a manager hasn’t changed, but those calls were bold and match winning.

@TheBigIguana @Billy Dean take that one to the bank lads.
You and I have been in agreement about Southgate all month mate, I’d have happily kept him in Germany before Bellingham’s goal against Slovakia but he got it right tonight and he can at least go out on a high wether we win or lose on Sunday
