His foot was ahead of the defender, nothing more. My dad used to referee when I was growing up and he explained the offside rule to me to be that if the torsos were level, it was onside. Basically, the attacker had to be obviously ahead of the second-last defender, not just have his foot ahead of him. Nowadays they're giving offside because the attacker didn't cut his fingernails. There's no way that goal is ruled out without VAR. It's ruining the game.
