Europa is now worth being in these days as the winners automatically qualify for the CL the following season.

And people may think it would be a long shot for us to win it but on our day we can give anyone a game and you never know what could happen in the 2 leg knock out stages?!

The way we play and the mentality we have going into games now is in tune with European football these days IMO and us under Martinez now will be a better proposition in European competition.

I would be happy to go in the Europa if only to give the u21s a run out. The qualifiers are pre season games for fitness and the group stages are full of dross. If/when you reach the last 32, then you can take it seriously. European football pre christmas is like watching paint dry thanks to the dreadful mini leagues in both competitions.

1 point guarantees Europe. 3 points guarantees 5th (technically not, but GD makes it realistic).

5th & Arsenal winning the FA Cup means we'd go straight in to the groups. Meaning no games until mid Sept & an undisturbed pre season. FA Cup runners up play qualifiers, winner would take groups unless already in CL.

Getting straight in to the groups would save on pointless games & allow a sensible pre season. Important we don't ease off for the last couple games. But would be nice for the other teams to drop some points looking at our fixtures.

The jurys out for me - We may lose two influential loan players, and it will effect our performace in the Prem look at the history, Newcastle Swansea etc!

Yeah but look at us the last time we was in Europe, we didn't really struggle league wise did we, we was still challenging for Europa spot/s.

If Martinez signs the right players with the right quality and gets good squad depth aswell then I think we'll be fine.

You've got to remember that 4 possible signings we could make in the summer (Barry on a free, Deulofeu & Traore on loan again and maybe Lukaku permanently) are already integrated into the squad and won't need time to find there feet at the club, like what happened at Swansea and in a way helped towards them struggling to cope with both the premier league and Europe.

Doesn't 5th go straight into group stages anyway?!

think two qualifiers could be played instead of two pre-season games and i don't think we'd need our big players playing tbh (you wouldn't expect a tough draw anyway). but yeah, it would be a bit of difference with not giving fringe players playing time due to the sub limit.

anyway, hull is our must win game out of the two, just win that and the city result doesn't really matter, would be better to finish the season on a high with a good away win.

Wouldn't disagree but would be better if pre season could concentrate on fitness not have distractions. Also having to travel to eastern Europe could disrupt other plans.

No, FA Cup winners is the top EL qualification spot. But FA Cup runners up EL spot is the bottom spot.

Well didn't Spurs go straight into the groups this season after finishing 5th last? And that was with Swansea & Wigan winning the cups respectively.
