European Football 2024-25

Meanwhile at the only clown show that can shame Everton, Barcelona have been unable to register Dani Olmo and Pau Victor for the remainder of the season.

Actually frustrates me just how bent these are. What other business can operate at €1bn in debt?

They have sold seemingly everything which isn't nailed down and invented some mad rubbish which they can sell off to generate even more money.

Haven't got two pence to spend, but can completely renovated their stadium with no ramifications. Meanwhile, we're not even allowed to spend £5m on a player 😂

Doomed? Fear not, that has been justifiably overturned today by CSD - indeed will be re-registered and should never have been rejected by RFEF & LIga, but Spain

The CSD will grant the URGENT PRECAUTIONARY MEASURE to DANI OLMO and PAU VÍCTOR BOTH may be registered by the
@FCBarcelona

The decision will not arrive in time for the semi-final against Athletic, it could arrive for a hypothetical final

Very weird situation at Barca when you think of it. The two term limitation of being president means the incumbent looks to create their legacy rather than consider what is actually in the clubs best interests. So they have the Messi, Pique, Fabregas, Pedro, Iniesta, Xavi period, and so that makes having youth players being of the standard required to make the breakthrough into the squad very difficult. But rather than just dealing with that in a normal way by bringing through what they can, and fill the rest of the squad with relatively cheap functional players to fill any gaps, they have to be seen as the team full of superstars. So spending goes through the roof with an idiot president who thinks himself the most important person. So debts rocket, the superstars leave, the club is on the verge of going bankrupt, and they need to go back to promoting the youth stars again, and pull players like Fati, Gavi, Lamal, Pedri, Cubarsi, Balde, Fermin, Casado, Bernal, out of the youth system and into the squad. But its not enough for them, they have to spend stupid money for Lewandowski, Olmo, Ferran Torres, Raphinha & De Jong just to be seen to be able to seen to be still the big cheese capable of spending big rather than just biding their time, building the squad up slowly again via the best youth system in the world. They didn't need Olmo, but they signed him anyway just because.

You look at Real, and how Perez had the same two term limitation when he first took over too, and he's been able to make changes to the degree that it make it almost impossible for anyone to seriously challenge him, so he's there until he decides he wants to leave. Neither is the ideal model for how a football club should be run, but the longer term Real model seems to be the better approach. Didn't work for us with Big Bill, so its all about the leader and their skillset rather than the term of office. But Barca won't be what they could be until something significant changes with how they're run.

Just 52 page brief + 62 similar documented cases

Olmo case:

First, Barça is told that the new Nike renegotiated contract would be sufficient for 1:1. In the end it was not accepted by RFEF/Liga and another solution was sought.

On December 31st there is a signed contract for VIP box rentals similar to what Perez did at RM and Liga/RFEF request documentation which is unnecessary by regulations.

This documentation is delivered on time and it is required that there should be 40% (not 20%) of the money.

The money is transferred, but it doesn't arrive until the 3rd of January yet La Liga is quick to remove Olmo's registration.

Was the issue really resolved on the 31st? What there is is a clear abuse of power by La Liga in the matter of the salary cap and Financial Fair Play rules. This time Barça's luck went against them, although on other occasions they have reached agreements with Tebas to have better availability for La Liga when it comes to registering.

'Someone' has decided to give Laporta the thumbs down. Why? Because he has not given in on some issues (i.e. CVC)

Interfering in the internal workings of a club in this way is very dangerous for football. The constant manipulation of regulations is sickening and while the provisional ruling from CSD is only a temporary result, the rules will again have to change as both RFEF & La Liga were aware of the ruling inconsistencies but refused to grant the players registration - leaving it for the courts to decide and punishing players & club knowing the court would likely recognize the legal merit. Each year since Laporta has been elected in 2022 La Liga has modified it’s FFP rules to eliminate/punish flexibility for a club Laporta inherited from Bartomeu saddled with debt and extraordinary wage bill

Young & talented squad, Masia purring, Camp Nou renovation, big sponsors and financial 1:1 re-achieved after 5 1/2 years. Future is indeed bright
