Music snobs are the worst bores. I love Eurovision because I get to hear things that I otherwise never would.
Currently listening to that Ukrainian entry 'SHUM'. Very werid, but I like it.

Ukraine was that chant like one with the singer wearing a dead Orville wasn’t it?. That was a good one. When it got that high viewer score, I thought it was going to win, only for Iceland to get 180 and knock them off, only for Italy to get like 318 and stay there.

As for us being the worse song, no way, that goes to Germany, but with Eurovision you also have to take into account the production on show. At least they had a bit of stage presence, had a bit of a laugh and the visuals were good, but with James, it was just two stupidly huge trumpets side by side. It could have done with some pyro and a projection on the big screen of a burning fire filling the stage.

Iceland got the visuals really done well, while the song is really clever, making it more of a shame they were not in the arena to perform it live. Greece also had really impressive visuals, the song wasn’t bad either.

Slovenian TV even thought the trumpets were stupid and cropped the screen according to a Twitter post (guess it’s a joke!).

The studio version sounds a lot better than it did live. Vocals were a bit weak on the night.

You only have to look at the national charts of each country where the best performing songs from the contest did.

Iceland’s song got to No.3 over there and the song they were going to perform at the cancelled contest got to No.1. Over here the song from the cancelled contest made the top 40 and got more than enough streams to be certified Silver. Very rare for a Eurovision act. I bet this one will do well after Saturday night’s showing.

Italy’s song made No.2 over there and it’s streaming figures are like 30 million, while Finland’s song got to No.1.

You only then have to contrast that with our entry; it didn’t even go top 40 in our charts. So no wonder why it did so cr@p and we sent the wrong song out.

We spend all this money and don’t take it seriously, in fact we spend so much on it, we are given a bye from the semi finals. Let’s bring in a relegation rule in which if you finish bottom 3, you have to qualify from the semis the following year. Because that song certainly wouldn’t have.

I wonder what happened to those stupid trumpets?. Most probably ended up thrown out into the car park alongside the German huge hand costume. Only to be washed away by the rain and soaking in puddles.
