We really deserved to win today, we were decent. It was encouraging.

Webb made a few lame decisions today. How many times did Essien or Cole take Coleman out off the ball to stop him running? The foul on Bily on the edge of the box where he played advantage even though there was none, Terry's double elbow to the back of Saha's head where he penalised Saha for backing in...

Fellaini was absolutely boss, I can't believe how good he is sometimes. I thought Arteta looked a bit livelier than he has done lately, too. And they just didn't know how to handle Coleman. Well, they did. By cheating.

My thoughts;

Coleman and Fellaini were immense.
Howard should have saved Kalous effort. It was a tame effort, it was ALWAYS going across goal - shame Howard was caught flat footed.
Interesting to see Arteta wake up once we took the lead. Suddenly looked interested in gaining possession.
Heitinga makes us look more composed at the back. He adds a certain swagger.
Nev done well today.

I agree that he should have done better, his angles looked a little off and he was flat footed.

He saw it late to be fair...straight through Distin's legs.

Yes indeed. How did we not win that? We dominated.

Our midfield did well. Tets was decent, not too great. Billy was great, i think Rodwell did well considering what was asked of him. Felli was decent at times, but misplaced a lot of passes. Coleman definetly up for MOM, he ran his face off.

Also, Saha had a great game. Our back four were good too, really really pleased to see Heitinga played with some real hart today. Kudos to our side for their performance, but it's depressing how cheaply we gave away our goal. Terrible finish that got converted, Howard just flinched. Should've saved that.

Anyway, good game. I dread the replay. I frucking hate replays. Especially when they're at Stamford Bridge.

Really? I hate arguing with you like... feels like I'm arguing physics with Hawking, but I think Cahill presses really well. You're right, Rodwell did press well and I didn't really think about that. I was more concerned with end product seeing as he was in the attacking mid role, but then I guess there's more to it.

Ultimately though he lost the ball for their equaliser. I don't think I can forgive him for that, even though there was a lot of play in between then and the goal, we were on top at that moment and were getting close to 2-0.

Cahill does press well, not taking anything away from him there, but Rodwell was coming towards the ball alot more and we where working little triangles around them with Fellaini, Arteta and Rodwell playing some tidy stuff. It's a different approach really, more controlled and patient. It's not always going to be the answer, but I thought it was suited to this game.

Rodwell made a mistake for the goal but his all round performance was fine. Made some intelligent runs in behind, showed some good footwork and was tidy in possession. He also looked much more at home in terms of positioning and defensive resposbility. Chelsea where struggling to get midfielders on the ball and kept having to go sideways or back to there goal.

What an excellent performance today, really disappointed we have to go to a replay after that. Baines and Coleman were world class, Billy had an excellent game (especially first half) and finally Saha showed some decent form. The second half until Chelsea's goal was the best I had seen Everton play all season. Felt that Howard could have done a lot more with Kalou's shot though.

I can definitely see where you're coming from now, but I'm not backing down in that I honestly think Cahill can and does do pretty much all of the same things. But he also offers goals.

Anyway, whatever did it, the team played well. The operative word being "team"; we looked a unit.

I'd excuse him for that but then he got beat by a Rameires shot. I'm glad it hit the post or else I'd have made a " Mucha in" thread to be fair. It was his near post FFS!

He had that covered and it was a good hit from Ramires after having acres of space to hit one.

And Howard is poor from long range shots anyway.

I dont thin Cahill can do all those things. Rodwell is technically better than Cahill IMO and better defensively as he can get back and swap with Fellaini, like he did today in parts or allow Arteta to get forward more.

did howard bring his cards today

drogba should have one for unsportsmanlike behaviour.

we should of had a free kick on the edge of the box, how howard missed that when he could not have stood closer without being involved personally, and the really wasn't any advantage to play, how many times has Coleman got to be taken out to get any justice.

I feel cheated,

positives
Arteta looked to be playing a little better, coleman still looks to becoming a real threat going forward, felli ran the middle and bily too had a good day, just hope we find some speed from somewhere for the left and a serious threat up front, saw far too much space today that should have filled with a forward or having a forward running into it.

Another Jekle and hyde prefromance ,we looked great today by far the better team the midfield was world class.Should and would of won only for Cech.If we could carry that sort of preformance into the league we would have no problems .Great preformance by all the lads today ,unlucky .
Arsenal next ........
