Why does it have to be relegation and a cup or stay up and win nothing

Moyes done well to steady the ship and take us into the top half on a regular basis with little money

But IMO he has been a well under par in the cups

You cant tell me that the teams he has had have not been good enough to win the Carling cup

Too right mate.

The positive in this is that we still have our great board of directors who've managed to steer the club to a regular top half finish despite having a complete bottler of a manager in charge of the squad. I'm excited to see how they'll transform Everton Football Club without David Moyes holding them back. Kenwright's had too much class to criticise or even sack a clearly incompetent manager but we'll really see what he can do now that the shackles are off.

It doesn't HAVE to be; I was simply making a veiled point to some on here who insist that Wigan have had a better season than we have.

I agree wholeheartedly that Moyes has been poor generally in the cups, but I also think that he made difficult, unpopular decisions that have nevertheless proved correct over time. With a small squad and very little money to fund reinforcements, you'd be taking a hell of a gamble to prioritise chasing either cup over climbing the table. And the higher up the table we are, the bigger we are perceived to be by prospective new players.

Moyes has turned this club into a genuine European contender, and it was a basket case when he got here. He's achieved as far as I'm concerned.

Hang on how has he not "Chased" the cups, I can only really think of the Leeds game where he changed players

Honestly I dont want to **** him because hes done wonders for us and installed a sense of pride in the fan base that was missing before he arrived but I think to cup games like Reading,Wigan,Liverpool,Brentford,Oldham,Shrewsbury and Brentford and its simply isnt good enough

I think hes a good manager one who is great in the transfer market but he seems to fall short when it matters most

Brilliant display of Football, reminded me of us earlier in the season. 1st goal was superb.

We#re going to miss you Moyesey, Neville and Cahill. End of an era.

Listen I know our board are a bunch of chunts but you can not blame them for us getting knocked out of cups by Reading,Wigan,Liverpool,Brentford,Oldham,Shrewsbury and Brentford

Was abit annoyed he waited till the last 10 to use all his subs, harsh on some, really wanted to see Naismith come on.

I don't know what he's done, but Phil Thompson's coaching input contributed in the downfall of LFC. Deep down he must know that.

Just playing up to his boring LFC shtick on Sky today discrediting anything positive said about us.

You absolutely can, we've got the smallest squad in the league and thus have not been able to bear injuries well. It's no surprise that when we brought in four players in january last season we went on an absolute tear. This year we spectacularly brought in no one and see what happened.

Didn't really sink in for me till I saw the guard of honor played a couple of times on SSN, then the lump formed and the eyes welled up. Gonna be weird seeing Moyes at OT and not the Old Lady next season
