Match Thread Everton 2-2 Man United. Sat Feb 22nd. 12.30.

40 years ago, (October 84 but it was 40 seasons in the same fixture) we played arguably one of the best games I have ever watched. I was there that day that the players we are honoring before the game tomorrow proceeded to annihilate United in one of the most one-sided games I've ever witnessed. Fitting.

5-0 Everton.

Just been on the Man Utd Forum. What fun. You think this forum can be depressing, at times. Their s is in a different league of utter despair.
I think their despair is made worse by the fact that there`s no excuse to point to for their low league position that would see them get back to normal in a short space of time. Spurs have a bad injury list to point to, but united seem to be in serious turmoil on the field and Sir Jim is causing mayhem behind the scenes.

I think this will be tighter than many expect. They are poor, but whether Moyes can get the players to overcome what remains one of our longest-standing mental blocks, I don’t know. With a few of our injured players in the side I’d be more confident, for though Palace was a great win it was more of a coin toss than some might choose to remember. Were I a betting man I might go for a draw or narrow Everton win.

More generally, just GREAT to be going into this game without that sense of dread about the outcome, and the outcome of other matches. Maybe that psychological cushion will be the catalyst we need.

EDIT: To be clear, I am ACTUALLY LOOKING FORWARD to an Everton game. Such a strange feeling.
