Defenders Antolin Alcaraz and Tony Hibbert are available after long lay-offs but they are unlikely to play.

Liverpool full-back Jose Enrique has been ruled out with a knee injury which will probably require surgery.

Striker Daniel Sturridge has been nursing a dead leg for several weeks and his condition will be assessed, while Kolo Toure is fit to return.

Everton's only win in the last 13 Premier League Merseyside derbies was a 2-0 victory at Goodison Park in October 2010, which was Liverpool's first game under new owner John W Henry.
Everton have lost seven of those 13 games and failed to score in eight (W1, D5, L7).
This fixture has produced the most red cards in Premier League history (20) - although Jack Rodwell's dismissal in 2011 was later overturned.
Saturday's match will be the 221st Merseyside derby, and the 189th in the league. Liverpool lead by 87 wins to Everton's 66 in all competitions.

The Toffees are unbeaten in their 14 Premier League matches at Goodison Park in 2013 (W10, D4). It is 51 years since Everton last went an entire calendar year unbeaten at home in the league.
Everton have recorded consecutive goalless draws. They have not drawn 0-0 in three successive league matches since February 1982.
They have not conceded a league goal for five hours and 30 minutes.
Tim Howard will start his 272nd Premier League game for Everton, breaking the club record set by David Unsworth.

Nice one lid!

Another clean sheet would be nice.

Just had the traditional Evertonian pre-derby kip. 2hrs.

Not really much in that TBF Davek. He's quite right what he's saying too. Still better to do you gloating afterwards like.

It's stupid to say anything like that on the eve of a derby. He had no right. I dont like this feller's attitude, tbh. I think he knows he isn't playing today and has just shot his mouth off at the wrong time.

And if he hasn't gone completely OTT, then the 'Everton supporting" Greg O'Keeffe certainly has with those two headlines below. If I was Rodgers they'd be straight onto the door of the away dressing room.

Done us no favours this rubbish. Thanks Ossie, thanks Greg, you pair of dickheads.

"From Dogs of War to Top Dogs - Everton are city’s ascendant club insists Leon Osman"

"Osman insists Blues will set out to dominate and dictate derby"

I agree with you about O'keefe. He hasn't give a fair representation of what was said though.

Ossie 'people keep asking can we close the gap etc', 'we've finished above them the last two years and played the better footie'. Thats alls in it really.
