This year’s team is MUCH better than last year. Not perfect. A Work-in-Progress but heading in a good direction. This year’s signings are making a significant contribution to that improvement. Marcel Brands’ performance so far suggests he is everything davek incorrectly believes himself to be: insightful, bold, more clued up than those around him and able to see reality clearly whilst others get caught up in the hype and BS.

He's got away with murder over our lack of striker firepower. Its coasting us badly.

Digne is the only massive improvement in the players he brought in.

January he has to get his act together and have a striker lined up good to go from the first week in that month...no arseing round haggling and missing out.

He had to get rid of a lot of crap and wages too, or would you rather he just went out , spent 200m not balanced the books? Actually don’t answer that, you would have loved it, could have 6 months of free whinging about how our squad is to big and our wages are going to see the club go bankrupt and the reason the stadium isn’t going to be built is because of brands and his reckless overspending, meanwhile in the moshiri thread you’re winging that mosh hasn’t provided enough funds.

If we had a proper striker yesterday we win that game. It's as simple as that. The three we keep on asking to do a job there in fits and starts aren't capable of it.

Walsh was responsible for signings such as Sandro Ramirez and Klaassen, who were absolutely disastrous. He also allowed huge amounts of money to be spent on players who occupy the same space on the pitch (Rooney, Siggurdson and Klaassen). Every fan on here could tell you that there was a serious lack of pace in the squad he was assembling, and that proved the case. In short, he was disastrous - set us back several years.

Brands has had one summer so far. His signings have all performed well. He's getting a bit of stick for not signing a CF and RB, but obviously our budget only stretches so far and he clearly felt that other areas of the pitch (CB, WF, DM) needed more work.

Hopefully he'll sign a decent striker and RB and we'll finally see a good team in the making.

Brands has done some solid recruitment however its fair to say anyone with eyes knew DCL, Niasse and Tosun are not good enough.

If he doesn't bring us a striker in January I'll be dissapointed and annoyed as 7th is very achievable and outside chance of 6th spot.
