Anyone want (okay, willing) to write up a detailed account of Evertons history for the site?

Player bios would also be appreciated.

Mikel Arteta was born on March 28, 1982 in San Sebastián, Basque Country, Spain. He started his development at FC Barcelona where he was tipped for great things plying his trade originally as a defensive midfielder, however with Josep Guardiola in the startling line up for Barcelona and Xavi in the same squad as Mikel, Playing time was hard to come by at Barcelona. After a few years languishing in the reserves Arteta was loaned out to Paris-Saint Germain in 2000.

Whilst at an exciting PSG side which consisted of himself, Ronaldinho and Heinze. Arteta played 31 times and scored twice partly due to the fact Luis Fernandes had chosen to deploy him further up the field which is when Arteta began to shine in a star studded PSG line-up he was an ever present and quite often the player who PSG looked to for creativity. However at the end of his loan spell in 2002 Mikel Arteta opted to sign a £6 million deal for SPL champions, Glasgow Rangers.

During his spell at Rangers he scored 12 times in 50 appearances. He also went onto lift trophies for the club winning the league title in 2003 and also the Scottish League Cup. He had the potential to become an ibrox legend after his first season laced with success he was a first team regular and had firmly settled himself into the hearts of the Rangers fans. Sadly for Arteta, Injury blighted his second season at the SPL Champions he only managed a handful of games and was shipped off back to spain in 2004 when he signed on at Real Sociedad.

Arteta's Real Sociedad career never really took off, he struggled to get into a bottom dwelling Real Sociedad side making only 15 appearances in his first and only season with the Spanish outfit. However in those 15 games he did still manage to find the back of the net once.

In the January transfer window of 2005, Champions league bound Everton had lost a key player in Thomas Gravesen to Spanish Giants Real Madrid which was seen as a potential season breaker for the workman like outfit. Mikel Arteta was brought in on loan until the end of the season and seen by David Moyes who had seen Arteta as the replacement for Gravesen. Arteta repaid David Moyes' faith in his abilities by putting in a few tidy displays his class was evident for all to see he went on to developed a great partnership with Tim Cahill in the heart of Everton's midfield and that season pushed Everton onto Champions League qualification.

Mikel Arteta signed permanently for Everton in the summer of 2005 for a bargain £2 million. Now Arteta has established himself as a firm fan's favourite and one of the best midfielder's in the league winning fan's player of the year for 2 seasons running and evening beating Cristiano Ronaldo to the "Midfielder of the year award" as voted by readers of Skysports.com. Mikel Arteta is quite possibly the most talented Spaniard never to be recognised by the Spanish senior squad.
