Tim Cahill was born in Sydney, Australia on the 6th of December in 1979. He was born to a Samoan mother and a English father. In 1997, Cahill asked his parents if he could travel to England to play Football professionally. Cahill was signed by Millwall from Australian club Sydney United on a free transfer.

Tim enjoyed great success at Millwall, grabbing 52 goals in 217 appearances for Millwall and was a massive fans favourite at the Den. Cahill made his name as one of the best attacking midfielders in the league and helped Millwall to the FA cup final, where they lost to Manchester United, but this still helped Millwall get a place in the UEFA cup.

At the start of the 2004-2005 season, Cahill was very close to joining newly promoted Crystal Palace until Palace pulled out due to Simon Jordan, the clubs Chairman, refusing to pay a fee to Cahill's agent.

This was Palace's loss, as Everton brought Tim for a fee of 1.5 million. This seemed an absolute bargain as Tim became the clubs top goalscorer in the 04/05 season, helping Everton to gain their best ever finish in the Premiership, finishing fourth and grabbing a Champions League place. Cahill was pivotal to Everton that season, grabbing 13 goals and sustaining himself as a massive fans favourite around Goodison Park.

Cahill signed a new contract in August 2005, signing for another 5 years for the club, a quote Tim made endured himself even more to the fans, he said, "All I can say it is another dream come true, another five years at the club I love and at the one that gave me my chance."

In the season 05/06, Cahill had another very successful season getting a further 8 goals, and became a big positive for Everton in a poor season.

Cahill was at it again in the next season (06/07), getting 7 goals in 12 games for Everton before getting injured in a game against Aston Villa, he later returned only to be injured for the rest of the season after breaking his metetarsal against Sheffield United. Cahill was sorely missed but it didnt stop Everton getting 6th position and grabbing a UEFA cup place.

In pre season, Cahill signed another new contract along with Mikel Arteta, both players signing for an extra 5 years. The club seeing how vital to the club the 2 players are.

Cahill played in the Asia cup for his country Australia, but after coming back from the Asia cup, he got injured in a pre season friendly against Werder Bremen, breaking the same metetarsal again.

Cahill has gained 27 caps for his country Australia, scoring 12 goals, including 2 memorable goals against Japan in the world cup after coming on as a sub, and becoming Australia's first ever scorer at the world cup finals. He is a integral part of Australia's midfield and is viewed amonst many people as Australia's best player.

Feel free to change it (y)

there is also a chance that he played for the samoan under 16's or something like before making his senior appearances for the full aussie side. (kind of like ryan giggs in reverse)
this one will need checking though because my memory is a bit hazey on the facts.

I thought I heard something similar to what you are saying a while back....same kinda story can't quite remember where I heard it before. about him playing for Samoa when he was younger.

I might be able to do a piece on Goodison if you wanted as I have a good book on British stadia. It will probably be a few years out of date (accurate up to late 90's) but anyone is welcome to add to it.
