We need to start signing an identity.

Reading Ashely williams comments about us , it got me thinking that the blueprint for every player we have brought in has been wrong.

We keep going for established players that in theory will take us to the next level, a combination of experience and peak performance. What we end up with over and over again is players in the decline. Gomes has never improved for us since he arrived to pick one out of the hat , even before his injury he never looked like he was at the same level as he was before.

We need to reset the club completely if we want a chance of success. We need 10-12 new players coming in with a few going out and that is dependant on our best players not realising they are wasting their careers here.

Until we start signing a blueprint, this is the best we are going to get.

He had nearly 100 days out with injury over the past two seasons, mostly muscular, missing fourteen games. We need to stay well clear!

Sadly that is in line with the declining style player I mentioned !

The teams who have surpassed us sign players for years and out mentality has been to sign players for month instead. That is largely what we get out of them , Allan and doucoure have been wonderful exceptions.

Watching him through his career and still now for juve and Wales. I think that’s one thing you can’t call him is lazy, still seems to have a lot of heart on the pitch. Great player at his peak, to risky now

Presumably because they realise he’s useless and so they can free up his wages. And good old Everton or Newcastle will give him an enormous contract while he stinks out the gaff.

Even if he's free, it would be a bad move

He's going to want £100k plus per week, given he's earning well in excess of that at Juve and if he comes here on a 3 or 4 year deal or whatever, we are going to be in a position where if he stinks the gaff out or spends most of the time out injured (with his track record, that's quite likely) he would be yet another ageing, highly-paid player on our books who we can't get rid of because nobody will pay them the same sort of money
