If we can find someone to loan Tosun for the last 6 months of his contract that would free space even if we pay half his wages. Kenny and Delph surely some Championship clubs would be interested again even if we paid half wages that would be £40k p/w towards Delph and Tosun and £15k p/w Kenny that is nearly £100k of wages freed up. If Benetiz is going to remain stubborn with James even if someone only pays £50k p/w towards it will be a saving. Maybe getting an answer on suspended player which could free up another £120k p/w. This would maybe allow us to then bring in 3 players RB RF CM. If we don't get any outwards movements we are stuck with this squad until the summer at the earliest.

My thoughts at the beginning of this season were to finish 15th, and then next season we kick on.

Next season Tosun, Sigurdson, Delph, James will all go and free up wages. Richarlison probably as well and FFP will not be a problem.

Then we have to spend wisely (hopefully with Benitez the sending will be more structured) and then we can go and challenge for Europe.

The start we have made this season has seen my expectations rise marginally from 15th to 12th...

Watching Max Aarons and Norwich this season, I don't see a £30m player.

I know Norwich are a very bad yard stick but he seems very poor defensively. He ball watches so much and he his pace isn't enough for him to recover.

We clearly need to sign a right wing back because we need to bring Godfrey back into centre back as soon as possible.

Yep that's the one thing I've noticed about Aaron's as well. It was glaringly obvious in their first match against the rs. He just constantly ball watches, never sensing the danger in advance like a good defender does.

The only good thing about being broke in the summer was that tool Brands couldn't deliver a £30m gift wrapped present to Norwich for that bog standard player.

Need someone in now who can cover both LB and RB short term contract 25th squad place. The thought of Kenny, Holgate or Godfrey playing a few games at RB is horrifying. Godfrey is also main cover for LB and although defensively he did a good job it meant we offered very little going forward.
Said that when the window shut. Aurier? I don't rate him but he would be cover.

We should still be in the hunt for 7th or 8th but yes the squad isn't good enough for anything beyond. Wouldn't surprise me if we scraped into the top ten unless we add in Jan.

Not sure what the FFP situation will be but I’d say we need to spend decent money on a RB and a winger at minimum if we want to improve the squad. Also think we still have to sort out CB - just doesn’t seem to be a balance there.

The January window will be the same as this summer. We can’t spend any money unless we can free up some space, who is going to pay for bang average players who they can enter into agreements with to go on frees at the end of the season. We might get one but that will be our lot. I am afraid this is a season to batten down the hatches and hope for the best. Anything in January will be a bonus. Hopefully there are a couple of clubs in serious bother and they start to panic buy, hopefully one of those clubs isn’t us.

Marcel Brands has shown absolutely zero evidence that he is capable of building a squad that can fight for europe. Whilst he is still at the club it is incredibly difficult to get excited about future windows.
There is evidence in support of the fact that Moshiri may be a very important part of the recruitment failure, maybe even the most important part, but yes on the surface Brands has failed.

But if we can get some wages off the books maybe sell a few and we also have to remember a big chunk of wages are gone next summer we can start to factor that in, I am no accountant but we need to bring a few in even if its loans.
