Everton January 2022 Transfer Thread

I'll be amazed we spend much in January. I think Branthwaite and King are the only players we ever signed under Brands in a Jan window

Oh I don’t disagree! I was just more so saying in an idea world we would buy a first choice in Jan and have Coleman as back up.

Every year we convince ourselves of that, but it's not really true. For example we have one left back and zero PL standard right backs. That's three players we need straight away.

I think Coleman is good enough to be back up.
4 for the first team RB, CB, CM, RF. 3 for the squad GK, LB, CM. I would be happy with that.

Aurier is still a free agent

We are about to free up wages

I'm absolutely not ITK, but.....

Don't want him. The next RB we bring in needs to be good enough to be first choice. If they hasn't extended Colemans contract I would have said fair enough but neither him or Coleman good enough to be regular first choice and Coleman definitely here for 18 more months.

The thing is, as well as players coming in there will be players going out. Some of those will be end of contract jobs like Tosun and Delph that we don't want or need but it stands to reason that if we are going to finance that many players coming in then one of our few saleable assets will go (Richarlison or DCL, or both, I would imagine) which means they will need replacing as well. I just don't see us signing that many players, and I'm also not sure that 12 months from now that Coleman will definitely be able to be a decent back up, time waits for no man and he is on the downward curve now. Despite what some would have you believe I'm pretty sure we won't have big money to spend next summer without sales.

Oh I agree. If we lose anyone I want to keep that adds to the 7. At the minute I would be happy keeping 17 of our 24 man squad. 7 as team the rest as squad players. Maybe have to lose someone big name to fund the rest.

Last sentence is sadly true. Sales required to generate funds.
